So this guy bought a "black back" male ball python off this new member on my home forum. Charged him $110 for this Morph, and i use the term loosely (a normal male goes for around 50-60 around here). Now he didn't come outright and say it is a morph, but i am pretty that is what his selling point was to this guy, as he keeps claiming it is genetic.

My point was not whether it was genetic or not, as it most likely is, as many normals carry and pass along traits to their offspring, such as reduced pattern, banding, and so on. I certainly don't market them as a morph or as anything more "special" that should cost more. Do you find this immoral?

To me it just seems like this guy pulled a fast one over someone who doesn't really know much yet and basically charged almost double for a pretty normal.

Black back can indeed be genetic however it's not generally considered a "morph".

Now did the original breeder specifically state that it was a "Morph" or did he just mention it was a genetic black back and because of the extra niceness to it it was a bit more expensive than a normal normal?

I guess what I am saying is was there an assumption on the part of the newbie (which it looks like to me) or was something stated by the breeder :dunno:

A nice black back male would be worth the $110.
Some are genetic some aren't.
If the guy liked it, I don't see where it was way overpriced.
There are black backs that are genetic and make white backed snakes when they are albinos.
Black back is a term used to describe it.
I see nothing wrong with charging a little extra for a unique looking animal.

Genetic blackbacks are worth more. I would consider it to be close enough to a morph, if it's a genetically passed down visable trait.

I don't think the buyer was ripped off. As long as it's genetic, and not just a blackbacked normal. The only way to prove it's not, is the breed it and see though.
