I've seen and heard of that happening before with spiders - in those cases they returned to their original color afterward. At any rate it's a cool looking ball...

Looks pretty typical of a l-tyrosine and copper deficiency. It will color back up.

LOL -- that's vivid!!!
Seriously tho -- seen it happen a lot - generally has something to do with the feeders tho it's been theorized that some snakes just don't process the chemicals well -- however it would seem that if that were the case they'd either stay that color or continually have the problem - but in most cases once they start coloring back up (usually a very dirty grainy looking color) they don't "relaps" .
