Posting a wholesale ad in a retail classified section is bad business etiquette.

Yeah, that is cheap, but you know what, the ball python market is already saturated and every body's brother has balls and is trying to sell them. Low ball pricing is inevitable.

I reported it to KS asked if wholesales ads weren't supposed to be posted in the wholesale section.:dunno: Doubt they will do anything.

The wholesale prices being offered to breeders is harsh. I over heard one whoelsaler offering less than $50 for pastel females.

The wholesale prices being offered to breeders is harsh. I over heard one whoelsaler offering less than $50 for pastel females.

Basically, the standard has always been that wholesalers will pay roughly 50% of the price they intend to sell the animals for. Now if wholesalers try to take advantage of the current crop on new breeders and offer only 20-30% value then I predict there will be a backlash and you will see more and more newer breeders that don't have good contacts get frustrated and openly market animals at wholesale prices. This will only make the price issue even more confusing than it already is right now.

I think the wholesalers deserve a lot of the blame here because they are taking advantage of the new crop of smaller BP breeders. At the same time $50 for female pastels doesn't seem that unreasonable for average looking/ugly pastels that are going to be marketed @ $100 each. However, I see it as more likely the wholesaler wants to pay $50 and mark them up to $150-$175 and if that is the case then the wholesalers are plain ripping people off.
