View Full Version : Scarface and kids
k-arbogast 08-21-2009, 09:07 PM Scarface shed last night so I took some pics today. Real hard to photograph this guy as a lot of the subtle undertones get washed out but the pics are still pretty descent.

Couple of his kids...the red one is bursting with a hopper it ate the previous night after a fresh shed of it's own.

Let me know how the feeding goes. It should be hungry because I skipped a meal for shipping. Also if you go with F/T warm the fuzzy with warm water or under a light. If you have any question just drop me a PM, good luck!

Scott, he is a Biak outcross which mean 50% Biak and 50% Unknown locale. If I had to guess, I would say Sorong or Jayapura because although you can't see it in the photos he has a faint blue vertebral stripe and markings. The blue showed up much better when he was still 60% yellow.
You can see it a little better in this photo from about 2 years ago.

In those photos he was in a 10 gallon size cage with orchid bark chip for a substrate, deli cup water bowl, and bamboo for perches. His new set up is a 29 gal tall with the same set up. I use GE Reveal bulbs for heat and in the winter I will add a night time heat lamp as well. I am old school in many ways and try to keep my set ups very simple. It has worked for almost twenty years and I feel I do have thank the hot humid Central Florida weather as well. Another way to judge how a set up works, and really I think this is the single most important part of herptoculture, is being very observent of your animals and their habits.
Beautiful! Simply, beautiful!
Thank you, Kare!
