I am thinking about buying a couple balls. I have corns and I am wondering how hard it is to get balls to eat f/t after they have been eating live. I buy all my rodents frozen and would like to continue that. It seems that all the balls I am interested in are eating live. I will most likely be buying hatchlings but I may buy adults. Would one or the other be easier to train to take the f/t?

Rob it depends on how much effort you can put into it. I've got a buddy with a pretty good size collection over 100+ snakes and he feeds mainly f/t so can be done.

If the snake is a good established feeder -- there shouldn't be any problems with converting it -- most will readily take them of the tongs -- some require a little work.
All of mine eat f/t or they don't eat. :yessir:

Who is this Rob person? :lmao:
Is it harder to get the adults to go to f/t? I know it can be a bear to get snakes to go from mice to rats and vice versa, so I am wondering if it would be true for live to f/t also.

The younger the better Ron. It's just easier for a hatchling to go for F/T than for an adult that has been feeding live for years/months, but like Tosha said it can be done still with patience. I have a WC that eats F/T. Like Tosha, no live feeding here.

Starting them off early is the key... You know the sayin... cant teach an old dog new tricks...

I get a bunch of adults that have never eaten live -- "won't touch the stuff" I am told -- pound it when offered. :dunno:
Now some people say I have a magic touch when it comes to feeding balls -- but it is what it is. :yessir:

ron,
welcome to our forum !
i don't feed live to my (currently 24) balls. except for very rare occasions.
i hatched a clutch of four babies on 7/1 (i think...) that have all eaten at least four times each, with none of them ever eating live.
i've converted persistent adults that have never eaten f/t for anyone else too.
so...with that being said.
either buy some that are already eating f/t.
or, just be prepared to wait them out, eventually, they'll all take f/t.
plenty of breeders have f/t eating animals for sale.
you shouldn't have a problem finding one.
good luck,
ck
