What do you all think about keeping lots of different species? I'm interested in SO many kinds of snakes. At the moment we have 4 snake species in our home. Both of us are mainly interested in balls but, it's so fun to mix it up a bit! And who knows- we may just find something else that captures our hearts like balls! :O

We have several different species and would have more but no room....need to win the lottery then look out:lol:

The lottery would definitely add to our collection as well! First we'd have to get all those balls that we NEED to get! Then on to the other stuff! :D

I like having a bunch of different species around. Makes things more interesting.

I keep lizards and I have a few different species of monitors, leopard geckos and skinks. Thinking about starting up with snakes again real soon.

Oh, and frogs!

Yes, I keep several species as well. As long as you make sure your animals are healthy and properly quarantined, you shouldn't have a problem.

Right now, I'm keeping balls, retics, bloods, bci's, amazon tree boas, corns, carpets, cresties, green tree monitors, and now gargoyle geckos. I have kept lots of other species, but that's just what's in my collection right now.

I agree with everyone. Keeping different species is demanding but fun. I keep leos, corns, womas, balls, pits, and few kings. Now as far as winning the lottery.... WHOA Nelly!!!!!! 5,000 square foot breeding facility here I come!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I could keep just one species. There are too many amazing boas and pythons out there to limit myself to just one species. Variety is the spice of life or so I have been told!

Sometimes you just have to get stuff you think you will be into to find out if that really is the case....

There are so many things that have caught my eye and I'd love to get one day... I'm sure I'll get some of them and decide that they're not really for me afterall. And others, I'll probably decide I need more of!

Another question... Is there a point when it's just too much? Too many different species with too many husbandry requirements to keep track of? What would you say if someone had- say 30- different species. Is that too much? Still okay?

I only have one specie at the moment, but would love to get others.. It's room that keeps me from branching out.. But one day I'll have some others..

I think we all have our work load limits.... 30 might be ok for one person and just impossible for another. I think once you start accumulating species, you'll get a feeling for when to stop!

Im an in this as just a hobby nothing more. no business or big money aspirations so specializing in one species is not neccasary for me. So I have a crazy hodgpodge mix of many types of reptiles. from snakes to uromastyx.

I think its good to mix it up Id like to get into breeding but I also love to make awesome displays and observe the snakes and have a chance to sneak a peak into there world....This is my hobby and I want my hobby to pay for itself and it must be very rewarding to see life created right in front of your eyes so breeding is a part of it but having a mix of everything is nice from a display point of view.
now I keep burms, carpets, balls and kingsnakes.
