I have a question for anyone who is breeding/selling leos. Are the Mack snows selling? I have a male Mack snow Las Vegas albino het for patty I am thinking of pairing with my LVAP female this year. Or should I go with the LVAP male?

I can only answer for my limited market (small shows, limited internet), but I was having a hell of time selling the babies from last season. I ended up selling the entire lot of babies and breeders.

The problem IMO isn't about what morph is selling or not, more like the whole damned market is crashed right now on ANY morph. It's a tough call on what to do, as pretty much everyone is having trouble getting rid of all leos (and beardies, and BPs...)
Personally I say try it out, it's only one pair, and you MIGHT get 16-20 babies for the year. You can always wholesale them if you have to and not feel like you are losing tons of money.
As far as who to put together, I'd go with the LVPA pair. I just think they are gorgeous morphs, and people ARE still paying good prices for them compared to some other morphs. I consider the LVPAs one of the "classics" now, and the classics always have a place with me...

Thanks for the info. I might just hold off breeding her this year and let her get good and rested up for next year. She did produce 8 beautiful babies for me in 08. Thanks again!

We decided to put off all breeding projects until next fall as well because we are HOPING the market comes back up. Plus it gave me a reason to pick up some juvies for breeders next year that I probably wouldn't have otherwise invested in. Nothing like an excuse to get more of these guys

I think I will be holding off this year as well. No need to produce 8 babies I cant sell and I really dont want to be feeding all those little mouths either!

I think what sucks is that those of us that HAVE high quality animals, and the knowledge and experience to breed, are putting things off hoping the market will change, but the kids out there who have no clue what the hell they are doing will be producing ugly, low-quality animals all year long. But right now those kids seem to be controlling what us true breeders do...but that is another discussion I guess.

I know what you mean. I have seen a ton of posts on other sites from people jsut getting into the hobby/business who are breeding this year with no clue as to how they will move all these babies. I only have the LVAPs and the mack snow male. I breed mine for the experience, not the money but I am smart enough to see big time breeders not moving animals so why would I breed mine? I am sure the market will be even more saturated with leos this year with the economy like it is....

My biggest issue is not the ones who don't know how they will move the babies, but those that have decided to get into breeding when they are still trying to figure out proper temps! I get emails and PMs from people on other sites CONSTANTLY asking "basic care" questions in one sentance, then in the next saying how they are breeding the ones they are asking about!! It drives me insane. Hopefully we can get some more education out there to people that this is NOT an easy deal, it will NOT make you money, and it takes more time and effort than just sticking 2 leos together and letting them bump uglies. I just want to tell them all to let those of us with some knowledge, as well as some quality animals that might actually ENHANCE the species, do the breeding, and let them just enjoy their pets.
Ok, this is way far off of your topic. But now I feel the need to rant, so I'm heading to the saloon. LOL

People need to learn to google basic care, read them all and try the stuff that is the same from each place....it's pretty simple to me.
