View Full Version : Tinley observations.
Damon Theis 10-12-2009, 12:52 PM I did manage to get a few things at Tinley.
1. My bathroom remodeled in one day.
2. Some totally awesome double hung windows.
3. Found a new chiropractor.
Guess the reptile related vendor rule gets over ruled by the almighty dollar.
Aside from that, the show was ok for me. Wasn't in much of a party mood and didn't hang for very long. Had my furnace decide to go out Saturday and had to deal with that. Real nice.
I did come back Sunday to hang/chat but the R/R booth was packed up and vacant. So, I was out of luck. Next time.
At least I got the chance for another free spine inspection.
Buckskin 10-12-2009, 12:56 PM Gee man your weekend sucked. Sorry to hear that.
Damon Theis 10-12-2009, 01:03 PM On the bright side I did sell ONE normal male ball for $20.
i need an icon with a head pat for ya .
Alicia Holmes 10-12-2009, 01:43 PM I was talking to the guy at the tub vendor thing, near Jasons table, and he actually got interested in the reptiles :) So id say, Cool for another convert :D He was thinking about geckos and such when i talked to him at the end of the show.
norsmis 10-12-2009, 02:39 PM I was kind of like "Huh?" when I walked by those booths... and of course the wife had to talk to bathroom guy so he wouldnt leave us alone for 5 minutes....
She realized her mistake after she said it though!
Damnitbonnie 10-12-2009, 02:40 PM I was looking for you. Left kind of early on Sunday. Sorry we missed each other.
Mrs. Norsmis 10-12-2009, 03:02 PM I was kind of like "Huh?" when I walked by those booths... and of course the wife had to talk to bathroom guy so he wouldnt leave us alone for 5 minutes....

Thought it would help us get our bathroom remodeled quicker! LOL
Really, I just felt bad for them because no one was talking to them....always the caring heart looking out for everyone else!
Damnitbonnie 10-12-2009, 04:27 PM The chiropractor ladies practicaly asaulted us. Guess we looked like we needed adjusting. :)
Damon Theis 10-12-2009, 04:32 PM As I was walking by, they asked if I ever had my back checked.
I replied, "Not since I broke it."
They had no response other than open mouths. :p
(I fractured T11 and T12 a long time ago in a motorcycle accident)
There was also a lady soliciting for some kind of raffle tickets ($10 each) to benefit a girl that needs a seeing eye dog; which kinda caught me off guard.
Damnitbonnie 10-12-2009, 04:56 PM I saw 2 kids with buckets (of candy?) and pieces of paper in their hands. This might have been them. I've become so numb to people looking for handouts (or trying to sell something) that I didn't make eye contact.

Having a strong background in special education, there are generally organizations that assist with this.....this would have caught me off guard as well. Did you see the girl??

Southern Wolf 10-12-2009, 05:43 PM ... and of course the wife had to talk to bathroom guy so he wouldnt leave us alone for 5 minutes....
Bubba... all I can say is your wife shouldn't be such a hottie then..
Although I am specualting on this since I haven't seen any photos.
Just sayin....
Envied Reptiles 10-12-2009, 05:51 PM Yeah, the empty booths/ and nonreptile boths were a big let down. That and by the time I was able to get away form my booth on Sunday the BLBC was not set up.
RptleSoltnsLLC 10-12-2009, 06:28 PM I heard via phone from a vendor at the show that it was pretty dead there. I spoke with him on Sunday with about an hour left to go at the show. I heard Saturday was kind of busy, but Sunday was a huge letdown.

Why do you think Claude and I always made sure she went with us when we were vending??? To attract those young guys!!!!
JChandler 10-12-2009, 07:17 PM That was funny with the bathroom guys, walked right by the window guys twice before I realized what the hell it was...
That wasn't the coolest part for sure, a few empty tables here and there but otherwise there was a good turn out of reptile people...I took off early sunday, to much to do here (hell I tried to leave early Saturday morning to sneak home to check on stuff...lol) but I guess I should say congrats on the male bp sale and I say it without an ounce of sarcasm in my voice...
The spine people tried to get me too. Just told them I already see a chiropractor. The bathroom tub guy just looked lost at the show and bored. Still not sure why any of them bothered.

In that case... can I borrow her
I promise to return her in the same condition as I got her :yessir:
Southern Wolf 10-12-2009, 07:34 PM how are you gonna be pushing tubs at a reptile show.
:dunno:

Honestly I saw the sign bathfitters when we got there Friday and were just wandering around during the set up time and thought it was a mistake...until Saturday that is

Sounds fair. Hope she likes warm weather.
Kerig3 10-12-2009, 09:42 PM I gave those non-reptile vendors a very wide berth...didn't want to get sucked in!
Anyone know why they were there? Table filler?
LadyOhh 10-12-2009, 11:58 PM I was wondering about the non-reptile tables as well. I'd never seen that before.
Mrs. Sputnik 10-13-2009, 11:25 PM One lady asked about my back told her I was a nurse and no thank you
SNSnakes 10-14-2009, 02:10 AM Hmmmm, judging by the responses here, I'm guessing those guys didn't do too well at the REPTILE show. I wonder if they'll be back next year? Maybe I should set up a table at the Spring home improvement show. Think I'll sell any reptiles there? I could market my snakes as "new and improved mouse traps"...LOL!
constrictorkeeper 10-15-2009, 04:28 PM Really, I just felt bad for them because no one was talking to them....always the caring heart looking out for everyone else!

i'm glad to hear you had a bad day leading up to the show, otherwise, i'd have had to assume you were always like that !

Yeah, that would be the same as selling a bathroom at a reptile show :).... I noticed a lot of jewelery too.... I hope it's not turning into a flea market, because some parts of the floor had that feel....

Bro you are special... in your own unique way...
LP Reptiles 10-15-2009, 07:22 PM One of the Oregon shows has started letting different vendors in...i think their was an ice cream guy, a casino vendor, a window guy and last year a sham wow guy....that show is just about done...most of the reptile breeders dont even go to get anymore, its became a petting zoo show...its sad.
The jewelry booth guy (forgetting his name) has always been there, at least it's herp related and he's into them. The chiropractor thing was right around the corner from us and I just cringed everytime I heard them start talking to anyone. On the plus side the louder one didn't seem to care to much for the retics that Chase kept taking out right by her!

You and I both dear! I really do think that they are beautiful, but I just can't get over the (irriational!) fear of them!

Boy....I'm finding out we are more and more alike every day! :)
