Where do you get your mealworms from and what are you paying per 1000?

A girlfriend of mine just ordered 1000 from http://www.unipeckusa.com/unipeck-live-mealworms.php

She use to order from http://www.sunshinemealworms.com/ but they have been out for half the year and not even taking new customers at this time.

I get lucky that the pet store near me carries them in the 1000s, and since I have a good relationship with them (they are vendors at my show), they give them to me cheap. If you have a small store near you that has reptiles, ask if they can order them for you to save on shipping costs. Lots of the online suppliers have been down for awhile because of the shortage, but it seems like the pet stores are getting them in still.

I just recieved 3000 mealworms from Armstrong Crickets for $25.00 to my door. This is the best price I have found yet.

I generally get mine from sunshine mealies but last time I ended up getting them off a guy on ebay because it was in the mealworm shortage thing and couldnt find them anywhere else.. Got 5000 shipped to me for like $40..

I always use Grubco.com. I have never really shopped around for the best price though.

We get ours from a friend who grows them for local shops in his area. We send him money , he sends a big ol bag of worms.

When he's out we go to Armstrong.

I've tried to grow my own twice and it was a disaster both times. I end up with moths taking over the tubs.

I was keeping them in large tubs, I tried using several types of bedding / food but always ended up with Indian Meal Moths taking over. The wife gets a little pissed off when the moths invade the house. She was almost as mad as the time I was breeding hissing roaches for feeders and she would find the occasional baby roach in the house.
