Do you have any tips? I heard they lay for 8 months straight... Is this true? I a little familar with the genetics of them, but man it is crazy...

the genetics.... are NUTS! Worse than corn snakes! Females will lay 1 - 2 eggs every 20 -30 days and can lay up to 12- 14 eggs total. My female laid 8 the first year and 12 this year but only 9 were viable. They are like little Pez dispensers once they get going! They are a blast to work with but do require every day to every other day maintenance.

I have just started with them, you are right about the genetics. I am still confused on some of the morph's, but I am learning. You can have 3 of the same morph and all look somewhat different..

If you do decide to start working with them, I am sure you will do fine.

One of the most easiest geckos to breed.. Witch is why the market is flooded right now. If you do not mind holding onto your animals for awhile then go for it breed geckos. I see a lot of breeders in the states having troubles moving there animals.. Might be something to consider.

Not too mention to be on top of morphs you have to be 4 years ahead of everyone else.haha

When I kept them about 4 or so years ago I had a girl I had to take out of the rack and leave her at room temp for 4 weeks to get her to stop laying eggs...she never quit after about 13 months of straight egg laying....

They are fun and the little screaming babies are the best part IMO...now if you have an army of females you can compete with the new morphs but to me it is easier to just work with what you love and hope your genetics are pure that way you don't get the surprises since they are like corns in the sense you have to do breeding trials to eliminate genes sometimes after stuff pops up...

Have fun and I hear Ron has some that he is willing to part with

This is an old quote, and while it does hold true for Leopard geckos,as I've always been fascinated by the fact that you can indeed see through their heads,.. this same statement holds true for Sara:cheers:

I am now the owner of six Leopard Geckos.I found this old thread to be helpful.
