Who is going to drop temps this year and who is already dropping temps? I hear some people not dropping there temps and other who do? What's your preference and where does everyone stand? I am at about 85 during the day and 80 at night.

This feels weird to me. Last year being my first time breeding balls I didn't get started until Jan. 1 so I have a long haul this time. Started about 60 days earlier than last year. We will see how it goes this time....

I didn't cool last year and the females I bred all laid nice clutches. I'm not cooling this year either.

I don't reduce the temp on my heat tape, however the overall temp drops a little in the house during winter. Has worked well for me so far, here in FL.

I don't go out of my way to drop temps, but this time of Year it just happens. But its only a 2 degree drop at night. I just had a het Hypo Ovulate 10-6-08 and she shed yesterday, this is my latest Breeder. Some would think she's an Early Breeder, but she goes late every Year. I like not cooling to much as my Boas seem to do better and my Balls are happy.lol.. I had to say that. You'll never have anymore RI's,81 to 82 at night thats as cool as it gets in my Room, and thats just for a few Hours but its enough to get my Boas going ........

Not that I'm into breeding that much yet, but my kids do what they do whether I drop temps or not so I just don't bother. It really seems they know when they're ready and act accordingly. Hell, my normal pair started locking up a month ago with no help from me. Damned if I can get Diablo, the pastel, interested though LOL.

I drop it a little, maybe 4 or 5 degrees over night, that combined with the overall drop this time of year seems to work well for us.

I dropped this year 5 degrees at night... everyone seems to be in the mood...

I haven't been dropping the temp on my heat tape. The snake room gets a little bit colder this time of year, which seems to be enough for them. they have plenty of room to cool themselves if they want to, and can get to the heat if they feel the need as well.

This is what I do. Seems to work so far.

Hmmmm I think I need to raise my temps up. I lowered temps too much I think down to 82 during the day and 78 at night. I think I need to move them back up around 85 day time and I don't have a night drop but I am leaving the window cracked and letting room temps drop at night. I think i will get back up a little on the temps its still early in this breeding season? What does everyone else think?

Im sure no expert lol but I just let the overall ambient temp in the room drop some like everyone else sid due to natural drop in temp.

I dropped the hot side temps 4-5 degrees from where I normally keep them (94-95), and like others, the room naturally gets a few degrees cooler. Hopefully it makes for a successful combination this season!

I am dropping my heat tape 4 degrees this year from 90 to 86. Last year I actually raised my heat tape a couple of degrees. Still had 11 out of 18 get gravid. One slugged out but she never strayed far from the heat. JP

P.S. 12 out of the 18 were 06 girls and 8 of them layed 4-7 eggs.

Yea man I'm cooling them down for damn sure. I'm thoroughly convinced it is an important factor when you are looking at maximizing success.

Sure you'll still get eggs without cooling but I don't want to just get eggs, I want the highest percentage of females bred to females laid, with the lowest percentage of slugs to good eggs.

Hell Yea I'm Cooling..

I don't cool here, my animals don't seem to give a rip when everybody else says it is the "season". They go when they wanna. I have western hogs that layed in Nov last year!!!

I only drop it a little..but the ambient temps fluctuate well enough to do the job here.

I do have a couple of females that I've placed in the bottom of each rack this season..Since they were the ones that threw me slugs last time around.

I dropped my ambient temps...well I should say mother nature dropped my ambient temps despite my oil filled heater so my room temps are down about 5-7 degrees at night now.

After shoving 3 large cool air humdifiers in the room it has dropped 10F, the room that is.... from summer temps.

I still to unplug the rack at over night and plug it back in, in the morning. :)
