I recently got a Granite Pinstripe male from BT. Super excited for this guy and im already thinking what I’m going to pair with him in 2010/2011 season so I can start purchasing some sub adult females to raise up for then.

Anyways the whole Blue eye Lucy thing gets me confused sometimes so I have a quick genetics question. If I breed my granite Pin to a Lesser/Mojave BEL would this be my odds…….?
1/8 Lesser
1/8 Lesser Granite
1/8 Kingpin
1/8 Kingpin Granite
1/8 Mojave
1/8 Mojave Granite
1/8 Jigsaw
1/8 Jigsaw Granite

Easy way to calculate odds:

pin granite x lesser/mojave

odds for a lesser/pinstripe/granite: 1/2 of the offspring will have the lesser gene, 1/2 will have pin, 1/2 will have granite.

So, 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/8.

You can do this with any combo, just make sure to keep track of the same gene from different parents.

For example: Bee x Pastel

chances for a killer bee: 1/2 pastel from bee, 1/2 pastel from pastel, 1/2 spider from bee

1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/8

what about the mojave though doesn't it come into play?

The reason the BEL's confuse me is cause they are a super form but have 2 genes in it as well but yet dont make a Copy of the super form when bred to a normal

The Lesser x Mojo BluELs do not have 2 genes to make the super but 2 alleles of the same gene. Think of it as a Super Pastel made from 2 different pastel lines (like a Lemon and a Stonewash). The Mojo and Lesser gene are the same gene it is just that they are 2 different "flavors" of the same gene which is why you get a 50/50 Lesser/Mojo ratio when you breed a Lesser x Mojo BluEL to a normal.

Our calculations show a 1/16 odds

1/16 normal
1/16 pin
1/16 granite
1/16 mojave
1/16 lesser
1/16 mojave pin
1/16 lesser pin
1/16 granite pin
1/16 granite lesser
1/16 granite mojave
1/16 granite lesser pin
1/16 granite mojave pin
1/16 granite lesser mojave
1/16 BEL
1/16 BEL pin
1/16 DEL granite pin

Not sure, please correct if wrong.
we are assumming the granite is genetic.

Re did calculations, understand now that no BEL and BEL combos or normals would be prouduced , but we still come up with a 1/12 ratio.

Thanks for your patience

It's 1 in 8 odds. Anything bred to a lesser/mojave BEL will produce either lessers or mojaves. So if everything is either lesser or mojave, then plug the granite gene into each, the pin gene into each and granite pin into each.

Stop it, You are making my head hurt.
Great post. I too have problems with the Morph Odds in a clutch.
:yessir: This really helped. Thanks!

u made a mistake there. when one parent is a mojo lesser, the babies cant be mojo lessers as well if the other parent is not a mojo lesser too.

so from this breeding u get a 1/8 chance at the granite kingpin and a 1/8 chance at the granite jigsaw. or easier said- the odds that he calculated in his first post were correct (at least if my brain works correct right now)

I dont know if youve heard of it, but i found this site and it has what it calls the Genetic Wizard. I thought it was kinda cool. It also has a page with 665 morphs. It does not have pics of all of them, but it does have quite a few.http://www.worldofballpythons.com/wizard/

wizard is not a genetic calculator for advanced genetics.

put lesser phantom x mojo phantom into there and look what u get...

the genetic calculator that i use is this one:

http://geneticcalculator.traxxtec.de/rechner.aspx?CSS=CSS%2fStandard.css

it can advanced genetics. also u not only got balls in there, but burms, retics, boas, corns and leopard geckos.

i like that tool, even if i dont use it that often anymore...
