85 Million in 2005..... WOW!!! Must have been Jeters request for a raise that year or them pooling money together to put a down payment on A-rod that year :lmao:

i find it funny that you would post something that proves that the highest payroll is not an advantage when it comes to baseball, as evidence that it surely is.
the chart illustrates that the yankees have had the highest payroll since 2002.
the yankees have won one championship in that time frame.
help me out here bro.

i'll put this in reptile collection terms for you.
brock has a kickass collection of players that pump out "championship" stuff.
i've got a mediocre collection with some potential for something decent.
both of us play on the same field, but there is a substantial difference in what brock has paid for his breeding stock, and what i've paid for mine.
maybe winning at this game is more important to him than it is to me. he's willing to spend big to ensure a higher probability of success.
maybe, just maybe, some of the other owners in baseball should be a little more like brock, and a little less like me. then the playing field would be more even, if that's your gripe. the yankees put more money into the pockets of every other team than you can imagine. the difference is that the owners of those other teams "keep the change" instead of improving their chances with the money.
read about how baseball works and you'll be less disgusted with the yankees and more pissed off at the ownership of whatever team it is you root for. the ownership of lots of teams have way deeper pockets than the yankee ownership does, but they are happy putting a mediocre team on the field, year in, year out. let's get some cubs fans in here and see what they think !
