JOHNS6068 11-01-2009, 11:27 AM Picked up a couple pair of black phase black rats poss het for albino and white albino last week.....Between the lighting and the snakes not sitting still this was about as good as it gets  It will be fun proving them out if they are or aren't....I'm really looking forward to watching their color change though :) I had these all the time growing up and now I finally got a few back in the collection...well maybe more then a few :D

norsmis 11-01-2009, 11:31 AM Awesome bro! Been looking for a pair of black rat leucys for a while. Those guys are so impressive as adults! Good luck with them brother!
Mrs. Sputnik 11-01-2009, 12:18 PM Those are so cool looking
The lucy texas is beautiful, but I know the ones that we have are nasty quick to bite! Of course, both Bruce and Becca just tell me that they simply have a "very good feed response." I think they are full of it. How's her temperment?
JOHNS6068 11-01-2009, 04:44 PM Thanks everyone
How's her temperment?
Her tude is sorta up there with the bulls....as in just going straight in and picking her up is best.........If I go in cautiously she seems to get more worked up....But overall she's getting better all the time about being handled.
Cool! Thanks for the answer!
norsmis 11-01-2009, 06:21 PM Hey Johno is the brown one the het for leucy or "white" albino?

Larry 11-03-2009, 12:16 AM Some nice animals John. The luecys don't seem to have that bug eyed problem, like you see with some leucy snakes.. You breeding any of them this season?

I bet your right....Even her eyes remind me of the leucy I have now.....he did have some Texas leucys he tried crossing into the other black phase rats....So it's very much possible she is a het for leucy as well.

See there are lots of conflicting stories about the leucy black rat and what most people call "white albino". Some will tell you there are no pure leucy black rats and I talked to a guy who claims he was there when the first leucy black rat was caught in the wild. I know if you breed a leucy black rat to a leucy Texas, you will get leucy integrades. Who did yo buy these from. I think I have talked to this guy before.....
FRoberts 11-04-2009, 05:31 PM Nice little black rats!!! One of my personal favorite snakes that are indigenous to my home state. Also your Texas lucy is kick ass as well!!!

To be honest, I will have to look back in my records (if I still have them) and look for the guys name who I bought those black rats from (2005). I will see what I can come up with. I know he is from Maryland.....
