Hey everyone just as intrested in how everyone keeps records of there collection.
Do you keep detailed records and if so do you write it down or do you put it on your computer.
Does anyone have a template for snake records? like an excel spread sheet.
Just curious in how everyone does it.
Basically I just keep track of size, eating and shedding. when my snakes are old enough to breed I will keep track of that to.

We have a 3 ring binder with shed/growth/weight/feeding charts for each and every animal. We also like to take alot of pics as well! :)

Always fun to be able to look back and see how much they've grown and changed over time! :)

I use a combination of the index card system and Deigi. I jot everything down on the cards and update Deigi on the weekend. Works great for me!

Degei (http://www.eyehit.com/degei/) all the way!

Easy to use and great way to track for me....plus the printouts make it look really professional even if we are just bush leaguing it.

On another forum someone posted an Excel spreadsheet of a card system that was meant to be printed to cards, but I modified it to keep computer records of my animals. It works pretty well, one window with individual cards for each animal. It also allows photos to be added. Plus I can always print it out should I ever sell the animal. Here's what a page looks like:

Hey, I'm a computer geek and a beginner breeder...may as well make both work for me! ;)

I'm a Degei user too. So far just for sheds, feedings (and I do record prey weights), weights and lengths.

Can't argue with that, Damon is a cool guy.... and he'd know how to work around it if there is a way!

I'll admit it -- except for hatchlings -- I don't keep records. If there is a continued feeding issue I'll make note of it and put a sticker on the tub but otherwise they eat, poop and shed like clockwork and I don't need to keep track of that.

When I buy a snake, or I'm looking for a snake I'm always impressed when they come with records. Makes me warm and fuzzy inside and makes me feel like I purchased from a pro. May not be the case, but that's how it affects me.

I started using the free version of degei but ran out of space long before I even dreamed about making any cash to justify purchasing the software. It would be nice if it held more snakes before the purchase upgrade, but thats just me.

Now I use a spreadsheet printout that I created in excel and I put it in a clipboard. My computer is not in my snake room, so I often forgot to updated it by the time I got done feeding, cleaning, etc.

I use Degei too. Works great for me. Not sure how it would work with a collection with a few hundred snakes. But for the 30 or so I have works great.

i just use blank cards, draw 4 sections on it, and write what it is on top.

Well I don't have a few hundred but if you add up all the babies that have sold and I put on inactive then there is alot of snakes in the program. The nice thing is to have someone get back to you with an original number and you can pull the records from years ago with parent info or anything else you have documented within minutes instead of checking through old notebooks like I used to do it that would take what seemed like hours.
