View Full Version : Anybody else into music?
skm0308 11-14-2008, 09:49 PM I started with violin for about 10 yrs and decided that was too nice and moved to guitar and bass. Been playing guitar for the last 5 yrs and dabble in bass. I'm really wanting a set of drums, not sure how much the neighbors or woman would like it, but I'm seriously considering it. :wamma:

Played Saxophone in elementary school thru middle school where I picked up percussion. in the 7th grade I got a 7 pc. Tama Rockstar w/pearl double bass pedal, All zildian/Sabian hh's and cymbals, Custom wrap and all clear remo heads... That was one badass set!!
Dropped the drums for turntables in my soph year of high school and have been hooked since.... Much more fun DJ'ing and you don't have to worry about bandmates or any other BS to ruin or spoil a practice/gig...
KordeksKritters 11-15-2008, 10:52 AM Music has always been a huge part of my life, since I can remember and then back a little more. But, I am no instrumentalist, I sing. My mom even has a tape recording of me at 3 years old running around the house singing "I'll fly away" (an old gospel song). In middle school and high school, I was in both the all-county and all-state choruses, and basically lived in the music room all of high school. I did all the musicals, even had the lead my senior year, which was awesome. I planned on being a high school chorus teacher, but my oldest son (who just turned 12) decided to show up a little early - like 3 weeks before leaving for college! But that is ok, I don't regret it.
Nowadays, I sing in the church choir, and always have something in the background - usually Top 40 or gospel stuff. My kids keep telling me I should go on American Idol, but I have to remind them that mommy is too old at 31. So now they are pushing me into America's Got Talent. If I do ever decide to do something insane like that, someone please smack me LOL.

LOL, yes'sm, but if I do so, TRY to remember you said this.
As far as my likes in music are concerned.......I'm stuck in a classic rock and country rut. My apologies to the seeming majority, but metal just makes my brain hurt. I attempted to teach myself guitar years ago but just couldn't get it together. Was lead singer in a couple old "Garage bands" in my high school days. Voice is still pretty descent.

if you're into CR, you've surely heard your share of "the band" songs, so you gotta be familiar with robby robertson, so you gotta check out his album with the red rocks ensemble, it's all native american indian stuff. have you checked it out yet ?
it will enhance your native american appreciation experience...

I watched Ozzy bite the bat. Early '70s, Kansas City, Kansas ( I think :-)). and fresh out of the jungle.THAT was a trip.
FloridaHogs 11-15-2008, 05:01 PM Hubby plays electric, acoustic guitar and dabbles with the bass. Both kids play the panio. I sang for 10 years, but am an alto so no solos. Hubby has an awsome " Richard Marx" type voice, so were on stage together for several years at church. He now has a nice small studio at home.
147BOAS 11-15-2008, 05:09 PM i love metal and my son plays the drums and my 7 year old girl plays piano
