Does anyone know if ranco or other brand makes a on/off thermostat with a night drop feature that i could power a oil heater with? I would love to be able to drop the ambient temps of my room at night. I currently use the Herpstat pro for my cages so I do have a night drop on the belly heat. I need something that supports the higher wattage of the oil heater. What do you people use?

Some people do use a ranco on the oil filled heaters for rooms.... I haven't tried it myself though....

I am currently using a ranco for my oil filled heater and it works GREAT. keeps my room temp very stable. I was hoping to find one with night drop feature, if one exists.

The night drop feature exists but depending on the source it can run over $200. I think Rich at Reptile Basics has them already wired but not sure of the cost.

Great little cheap programmable thermostat....it has an external probe that I have even extended with a standard cord and it works!

If it is any help the one I wired up with a longer temp probe has been running nicely on my GTP cage for the past 2 months but I tested it running my hatchling rack first with great success. Mind you it isn't the prettiest of things with the plug off the front but for a good on/off thermostat I found it to be exceptionally good. Plus it is made for oil filled heaters so the wattage isn't an issue. Just my 2 cents...I also run a ranco, herpstat and some dimmer switches (don't tell anyone since we aren't supposed to still be doing that)...

Hey brother I've been running my oil heater in my baby room for about three years straight with an on/off Johnsons controls t-stat it's got a night drop that works perfect.. It was about 65.00 bucks I believe 1500watt

I recently bought a Honeywell oil radiator that has a programmable thermostat built in with an up to 18 hr timer and 3 power settings. I've used it about a month now and the internal t-stat is extremely accurate. I think it was $65 at Wally world.
