Sometimes if the girls have adequate body weight and it's early I will put a 1200 gram + girls in the rotation. greghall 12-08-2009, 09:42 AM Ive put males with 1000-1075 grams girls to stimulate feeding & when they go I can get them well over 1500g by the time they OV.I they dont go they just get bigger! When they are eating good every 5 days but small rats or ASFs. anendeloflorien 12-08-2009, 10:35 AM I've got a couple of 1200g females breeding right now but it's still early and they're eating great so I'm sure they'll be up over the 1400g mark by the time they ovulate. At this point I'm just feeding once a week, it's about all I can manage with school and all lol. Otherwise I'd probably be feeding the <1000g girls every 4-5 days. Sputnik 12-08-2009, 10:51 AM I prefer mine to be at least 1400g, but have had a few 1200gers go and go again the next year. 1400g seems to get me around 6-7 eggs.... so I like that. I feed em weekly - MagickalMorphs 12-08-2009, 11:06 AM Some animals I feed weekly, some more often than that but smaller meals. Not really a set schedule around here. This is only my second season breeding, but I wouldn't start breeding anything less than 1200 grams, and then only if she were still feeding really good. ThunderPaws 12-08-2009, 11:22 AM I am currently breeding a couple at 1200 grams. I know in chatting with some of the old schoolers, they often bred balls at a 1000 grams with good success. Of the 6 only 1 went and she slugged out. For me personally I won't be breeding anything under 1500 from now on. I feed all my animals once a week. 147BOAS 12-08-2009, 06:44 PM Last year I bred around 6 girls that were under 1500 grams. Of the 6 only 1 went and she slugged out. I like to keep feeding my females about once a week until February. I don't feed my adult females much in Feb & March assuming their nice and plump. 147BOAS 12-08-2009, 11:52 PM My girls are generally 1500g + when being bred. Pitoon thanks Albe 12-11-2009, 12:00 PM I have heard lots lately about feeding response getting better with breeding, so I have a couple 1200g females that I'm going to try this year. Otherwise I try to start with 1500g+. I'm not planning on stopping feeding except for 2 weeks feb/march where I'll be on holidays. Other than that they'll be fed if they want it.... Hopefully lots of them go off of feed and drop big clutches :D |
