View Full Version : WC Sandhills, NC corns
norsmis 11-16-2008, 12:03 PM THis pair was caught by a friend of mine a couple years ago. The female was a hatchling and the male was an adult. I am hoping they will give me a nice clutch this year....

No hets unless they come from the wild! I am more excited about this pairing than any other that I have this year. I love the normal corn, just like nature made them....

If all goes well in the spring save me a pair really. I have so many het this or het that ones around that I need a nice pair of just plain normals so breed just what I want into them.

Will do Bro! The Sandhill, NC corns seem to be really popular with local collectors.....
JChandler 11-16-2008, 12:46 PM Are they the same as the upper keys? The look is similar.
norsmis 11-16-2008, 12:50 PM They do have some of the same coloration; buckskin background and light red saddles. I think the upper keys have a lot more orange than these guys do....
JChandler 11-16-2008, 12:54 PM Okay the male really didn't look that much like one but the female had a bit of color that made me question it....
Very cool project! (it really that obvious that I am a cornsnake junkie sometimes lol)
norsmis 11-16-2008, 12:58 PM Nothing wrong with that! Corns have always been my favorite snake to keep and work with....
I've got you down on the list for hatchlings so as soon as they hatch, you get first choice!
JChandler 11-16-2008, 01:03 PM Cool thanks!
Mrs. Sputnik 11-16-2008, 01:51 PM Awesome looking corns and normals to boot :wamma:

Captive bred, YES! I have bought normals thinking I was getting a clean normal with no hets to find hidden hets which really screwed up some projects. A lot of people with projects look for wild caught or F2 babies to ensure nothing pops up. But people have had some suprises with wild caughts too!!!!!

To find one that is positively not het for anything it is. Most of your morphs now are het for something but most folks don't or won't tell you unless it is a selling point. Sucks when your project hits a snag because of a het that you didn't want...just a selective thing over all really.
