View Full Version : Possum -Bow Kill-
Larry 12-13-2009, 04:06 PM After I got my new PSE all dialed in. I did a little pest control. Now supper is served.

Once they come within my danger zone, the next stop is the fryin' pan..
http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq334/larry_suttles/358a5adf.jpg
This ol' boy has been tearing the siding off my house, amongst other things. Busted him good, 25 yard heart shot in the dark. The PSE XForce did all the work..
Ok I'm going to reveal my recipe for "Urban Possum Mcnuggets" I cut the meat up into little bite size pieces, let em' marinate in ranch for 24 hours, bread em' up real thick, then toss em' in the frying pan. Serve with iron skillet cornbread. Some goood eaten, better than any 25 dollar steak you'll ever have..
Enjoy..
norsmis 12-13-2009, 04:09 PM Make sure you post it in the Recipe section boss! :lmao:
JOHNS6068 12-13-2009, 04:13 PM Nice job Boss :rockon::rockon:
norsmis 12-13-2009, 04:33 PM And good shooting brother!!!!!!!!!!
It's gotta be awfully satisfying to cream something that has been destroying your home! Great shot Larry!! And yup, gotta put it in recipies! lol!
Mrs. Norsmis 12-13-2009, 04:44 PM Great shot Larry! I had one of these suckers under my bed when I lived alone in Canton. I don't know how in the heck it got in the house, but my wonderful dog warned me that it was under there. I had to grab my phone and stay on my bed until my dad got there. It was the craziest and scariest thing I have ever experienced! I could have used you!!!!
Hummmm not sure I'd enjoy eating possum. Does it taste like chicken?:lmao:
Great shot Larry. Nothin' like usin' the neighborhood vermin to practice on. I've never et 'possum, but that sounds tasty. I hear possum grease is good fer yer hair :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Question................I don't see a broad head on that arrow, what did you use, field tip or small game tip??
pwilliams58 12-13-2009, 05:25 PM I have to say...that sounds like it tastes F***ING DELICIOUS! Marinated in ranch for 24 hours? Dear god...I want that NOW.

Field tip. I wasn't about to waste my rage broadheads on a pest. Plus the rage one have cut a hole in him the size of my fist. Not good for the meat :D
FRoberts 12-13-2009, 06:11 PM Larry great shot at 25 yards in the dark. Even though you say the bow did all the work, that shot takes a certain amount of skill, being pretty accurate with a bow myself....Nice shot!!!!
Field tip. I wasn't about to waste my rage broadheads on a pest. Not good for the meat :D
LOL, not on somethin' the size of a possum. Sometimes I'll take a squirrel or a rabbit off corn if I get bored, or it gets late, waitin' for deer. Keeps ya sharp.
ThunderPaws 12-13-2009, 09:30 PM Man,
Nice shot skipper.
Bill

dempserg 12-15-2009, 06:18 PM LOL possum? The lowest i've gone is a tie between carp or muskrat. Actually, neither were that bad, but the carp was deep fried and I ate the muskrat when I used to trap then when I was 12 years old with my dad. Maybe I should open my self to possums :)
Rob

I've always had this thing for possums. Something to do with the fact that they haven't changed since they sprouted up on the planet. I know, that means they been that ugly for THAT long :D, but it intrigues me.

There's really not much information out there on these guys....
You should see how fast he recognizes the smell of a mouse or rat in his bowl :lmao::lmao::lmao:
I try to give him a variety of live things like meal worms, earth worms, crickets and a mouse here and there.... I can't watch him eat the mouse dead or live :dunno:

Fruits and veggies.........more veggies, less fruit. I had a baby I kept for nearly a year. Fed her Beardie greens (collard, beet and mustard), Green beans, squash and strawberries from the garden, apples and rat block. Live crickets, and a live mouse or two once every couple weeks. She grew pretty well. I believe I've actually seen her in the yard once this year.

Thanks Quig ;)
That's gotta give you a squishy feeling inside to see her after you released her :)
I feed him (I think a him) Plenty veggies a few fruits (really loves purple grapes) and the occasional nuts like almonds, cashews and brazil nuts. He loves baked and fried chicken too :) oh and raisin bran flakes. It's a really cool creature. I tried the rat cubes and it's a no go :dunno: maybe just a littled spoiled :dunno:
Beth
Well, the dog actually saw her before I did. She beat him to a tree across the street though, and didn't fall out and play dead. That's kinda why I suspect it was her.
Oh, and I think you feed him well enough. I wouldn't worry bout the rat blocks :D
