View Full Version : Breeder Ball Python Advice Needed.
xanaxez 11-16-2008, 01:47 PM ok , as most of you know im new to ball pythons and ive been wanting a pair of breeders to start working with. well i found a 04 proven male breeder and the guy wants 200.00 shipped. i will inquire about him on faunas BOI abd he also has on all of his emails and listing a fauna certified good guy banner but we all know that doesnt mean crap sometimes lol. i will load pictures of him. i guess i would like to know if hes worth it or of he possibly burnt out since hes 4 years old or what not. i know its hard to just look at a snake sometimes and tell but any and all advice is needed and wanted. it's an 04 breeder male pastel is what its listed as.

luciddream 11-16-2008, 01:51 PM Well, he looks like he is probably a pastel, and a pastel proven male for $200 isn't bad. Just make sure to check him out on the BOI. If it isn't a pastel, then don't bother. A Proven Normal Male shouldn't run you more than $100.
Good luck. Oh, and a 4 year old male would not likely be burnt out at all. They can breed for several years.
luciddream 11-16-2008, 01:53 PM Oh, I didn't read after the pic. Yeah, it looks to be a pastel, and $200 is a decent price on a pastel breeder male. You don't even want to know what I paid for my PB pastel het orange ghost male.
xanaxez 11-16-2008, 03:01 PM Thank you, i think it looks like one also but needed to make sure since i'm not an expert with morphs or ball pythons and i know alot of people here have alot of knowledge on them.
sdreptiles 11-17-2008, 03:20 AM Looks like a pastel to me. And a not so bad looking one either, for being 4 years old. I would check the guy out and all that. The only thing being a breeder male. He might have been used alot. Im not saying he wont breed for you or anything like that.
My oldest male bred for his first time when he was 12 or 13 years old. I only bred him once, but im sure he would still breed if I put him in with a female. I got 4 good eggs from him. See if you can get the guy to send you a picture or two of the snakes tail, the under side of it. Look for any kind of sores or scabbing or anything like that. Just to kind of check and see if its been over bred.
Not sure where I seen it, but someone bought a snake as a proven breeder. Once they got it, it would not breed and had some sores on the under side of the tail. Think there were some other problems too, but not 100% sure on that.
Anyways from the pictures you posted it looks like a pretty good pastel. Again not to bad looking for a 4 year old too.
Sputnik 11-17-2008, 03:24 AM I think it's a good looking one for a 4 yr old adult.... if I were looking to get an adult male to breed, I'd like what I'm seeing there.... check the seller out and good luck!
CBMorphs 11-17-2008, 09:03 AM I had a Graziani line pastel adult male, and he looked similar to the one posted above.
xanaxez 11-17-2008, 03:27 PM thanks guys. i checked him out on the BIO and seems he has nothing but good transactions, didnt see anything bad on him either so i think im going to get him. i saw a nice 06 for the same price on ks.com but they werent certified dealers on there or nothing so im kind of doubting on that one lol.

i think you saw that on fauna maybe. someone had a huge right up and response to the thread. he bought it as a breeder but when he got it the snake couldnt be bred any longer due to over breeding and the guy breeding it failed to listen to the vets advice. is that the one you are thinking of?
