Okay well I have no babies left from this past seasons breedings so I have only been able to test this on my adults. With some varanids you can sex them by shining a bright light at the base of the tail on the top side and looking at the bottom. The outline of the hemipenes will be much darker than the surrounding area on a male and a female all will look even in color. I have tried this on my breeders and it deffinately works on adults for sexing. However, as stated in the beginning, I dont have babies to test this on. If you have a bright flashlight and are willing to take the time to test a small group of your babies with this method (say 10-15) and report your findings here along with the age range of the babies you tested it against it would be greatly appreciated. If this pans out to work on babies down to hatchlings it is possible for us all tho highly benefit from this in the ability to sex our babies to a certainty at a much earlier age and a with a much higher rate of being correct. IF you are willing to participate please let me know and then post your findings, numbers, and ages. Thanks everone.
If I have time tomorrow I'll give it a shot. I currently only have babies that are about 6 weeks, but have eggs that are due to hatch in about 2 weeks or so, can test it on those as well.

what does it mean to "loupe" them.
what does it mean to "loupe" them.
Using a jewelers loupe to look for pores (miniscule) on the males, or the pinpricks of where they will be, basically. Some people are really really good at this, like Jeremy, some are not, like me.

i dont think that louping would apply to bearded dragons as both males and females can develop preanal pores.
I don't loupe anything here, unless it's a bit bigger and easier to see. But even in beardeds you can see the beginings of preanal as well femoral pores on a male before the tiny ones that show up on a female. After about the 12 week stage I can bout gaurantee the sex by tail lift, but before that I won't do it. To small, and my eyes don't focus that well.
