Pictures taken by Cane. :yourock:

Of course it's a extremely high white animal... however... a low or mid white would look absolutely incredible!!!

Sweet. I prefer the super blacks without the pied, but it is pretty nice. Can't wait to see a more low white one.

Damn it's about time.. Neat looking critter too bad it isn't lower white. Judging by the white head I doubt thats possible.. Still cool though

I think a low-mid white is still possible...

Even though the head is white... Still doesn't mean IMO that you can't possibly get a lower % white animal.... It's just that damn pied gene is so strong!

Ian G. of outback Reptiles was the one who produced it.

I saw these on another forum.. It's a sweet animal! I think JnJ ruined it though.. Nothing could've lived up to the hype that was created by unveiling it but not really unveiling it.. They stuck their foot in their mouth big time on that!!

Alan

LOL I just saw your post Jas!! Yeah someone should definately send it to them!!

I don't think JnJ really ruined it... I just think people got upset wanting to see a pic of an animal that everyone has been wanting to see for a few years now after the animal being announced that it was produced. I know I was one of them and it really ticked me off that Josh would post that it was produced but not have a pic to follow... I mean C'mon man!!

The snake is definitely badass though and I also like how the black is solid deep black and not faded or anything... Just solid pied white and jet black!

Well they ruined it for me at least.. The snake is badass! I can't wait to see more produced to find out if it's going to be a high white morph, or if a lower white one can be produced!! Here's hoping you hit the blk pastel pied this season.. Good luck!!

And thanks! I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping to get one

Well, when he posted on bp.net he actually did promise pictures in the next day or two.

I think that is one awesome snake, but like others have said, I wish it was a little lower white.

And I still think it should've been named the Cow Pied!

Can't say I'm overly impressed by it myself. Over hyped. Personally prefer the super cinny or a straight pied.

Does this one do the duckbill like the super cinnys do? I wont try for them because of that deformity.....

Both the black pastels and the cinny's have had the duck billing along with some other problems. It does't happen to all of them, but it does happen. Hopefully with some more outcrossing, this deformity can be taken out, but who knows. I will still try to produce super cinny's and super BP's, anyways. If it's deformed, I'll either keep it or give it to a friend as a pet. They look so kick ass, I think the risk of a kinked snake or a duckbilled snout is worth it.

Hopefully outcrossing will remove it completely!! but only time will tell i suppose.

I dont think an animal developing with any deformity is "worth it" just for the sake of looks though. But thats just my personal stance on the matter.*shrug*

Its a pretty animal, would love to see more pics of it.

I love the contrast- unfortunately I would have much rather seen a stark black head and a lot less white on it. Since it's got a white head I'm gathering it's not going to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out the little black on this one is a paradox and future Panda Pieds are all white - hope not - but it wouldn't surprise me -- we'll see.

Thanks for the picts!

It's just the way it goes.. There seems to be all physical deformities that pop up in alot of the different morphs. There's physical deformities that pop up in normals, too. It just happens that there are certain deformities that are more common with certain morphs. It's not like the animals can't live a full life because of it. I've seen severly kinked snakes live several years, just as any other snake would.. Of course, you wouldn't want to breed those snakes, but most of them can manage just fine. It would suck to end up with one that was deformed, and if you are in it for the investment only, than those morphs probably aren't a good investment. If you are in it to make some cool looking animals, and for the enjoyment of breeding, I don't really see the problem with the risks.

Hopefully the risks can be lessened by outcrossing.. We'll have to see. I think alot of it may have to do with breeders rushing to find out whether there is a super or not and to determine the genetics results in poor breeding practices as far as genetics are concerned. This may lead to some of the deformities we see in some of these snakes. Who knows, though. It may just be a part of the genetics of that morph. If you really think about it, all these morphs are deformities, as they are generally not a good thing for the snakes in the wild. Ones that stand out are ones that become easier prey and generally don't live too long. It's not an issue in captivity, as we keep them safe from predators. The same with feeding snakes that wouldn't be able to catch their own prey like ones that are severely kinked. I'd think that the ones with a non extreme duckbill would probably do better in a natural environment than a kinked snake would, as it can still manuever as a normal snake would.

Just my 2 cents on the issue. Sorry for my OT discussion, back to the sweet pics of that Panda...

Nah... I don't think it's a sign of paradox... And this is only my opinion... but you have to think that the super black pastel being an all black animaland the pied gene is pretty strong itself... kinda like one is fighting the other to show up more... Either way it's going to be very exciting to see more hatch in the future and I think we will see more with different %'s of white/black. A nice low to mid white though would be an absolute dream to produce and look at everyday!

I think there is more hope than we are allowing to give... especially since the there is black on the actual body itself vs. only the head like the spider pied....

Nice looking snake, but I don't know if it lives up to the hype. Seeing that it's not just a black face like the spied, I bet more will be produced with some more black, but I don't know about ever seeing a low white panda.

I really like it. As far as the hype goes that was mostly produced by other breeders and enthusiasts wanting to see pictures of it. JnJ should have never announced it if they didn’t have authority to actually post a picture of it. If anyone is to blame for the let down it is JnJ. I think it looks really cool and I look forward to producing one some day.

Well said Albey! I had see pictures of the animal and never announced it and dont see where people feel that the breeders owe it to them to post pictures of their animal if they dont want to.........

I do love the snake and would love to have it in my collection....

That's one sweet combo but like everyone else said it would be nicer with more black. I read on another forum that they had it up for sale in some show for $30,000. Isn't this the first and only one made? Why would he sell it? I guess $30,000 is all the reason he needs. lol

Is that a reasonable price or is that too high or too low?

Well it is the only one made... and as far as I know Chris McQuade (sp?) @ Gulf Coast Reptiles is the only one that has produced a black pastel pied and Ian producing the Super black pastel pied there are a limited # of people that have the black pastel or cinnie het pieds... So there is some exclusiveness in the morph itself...

Especially considering that when that animal breeds to ANYTHING you will produce ALL black pastel's ALL 100% Het for pied... So if you bred it to a Super pastel you'd be looking at ALL pewters 100% Het for pied! Talk about a genetic machine! :master:

I'd like a lower white, but it's still striking. I want to produce a super cinny/pied. Just because I like cinnys better than blk pastels. Maybe if everyone else has REALLY lousy luck the next 4 years, I'll be the first to produce the Super Cinn/Pied!!
Yeah.. I'll hold my breath.
It's a awesome snake, could make MUCH nice combos too!

I believe Brian (BHB) had a Cinnie het pied male on his site a couple months ago for $10k...

I agree either black pastel or cinnie pied would be a combo powerhouse!
