View Full Version : Glenn Beck - Makng the case
MikeCurtin 01-04-2010, 06:13 PM Well, Glenn Beck has received the the Soros/Clinton award for "Misinformer of the year". They didn't mention him being wrong on any of his facts, nor did they cite any piece of misinformation. Just cited his opinions and how they disagreed.
As many of you know, I watch him often. All this week on his show, he will be laying out the facts that he stated over the past year. He will follow that up with the claims made by the White House and the mainstream media. Then, he will explain how each and every circumstance played out. Was he right or wrong? Was anything resolved? Etc, etc, etc.
He's on Fox News at 5pm EST, and is re-run at 2am. Check it out if you can....especially if you disagree with him. He's doing this so that the issues from the past year can be put to rest, and we can move forward to 2010.
Buckskin 01-04-2010, 06:38 PM Sorry Mike I really tried to watch him.
He's an entertainer. Not a reporter or journalists.
If he can't scare you why would you watch.
sensationalism an out right lies to fire you up.
Blame somebody else. We had nothing to do with it. :nono:
Beck is an entertainer, and he goes over the top at times. But he brings up valid points that need to be vetted and discussed.
We DVR him every night and usually spend time investigating his claims afterward - you can't believe anything anyone says anymore. He is right-on most of the time and especially when he says that government is WAY too big and is spending WAY too much freaken money.
The MOTUS speaks out of both sides of his mouth and is destroying this country. He could easily get the economy going by cutting taxes, cutting the size of government and cutting government spending. But he is doing the opposite - how the hell is growing our debt by a few trillion dollars help? Anyone? The only one it is helping is the government.
Government is not the answer. I'm tired of the victim, helpless freaken losers crying to the government everytime they want something. Government never does anything in a small fashion (does the reptile ban ring a bell?) and they never rescind anything. All your freedoms are slowly disapearing and it's going to take a large effort to get them back.
I used to be a republican, but now I'm not voting for anyone unless they profess conservative principles based from the constitution. I'm tired of liberals and progressives spending this country into a third world nation...
Off my soapbox, for now...... lol....

I'll have to try and catch that show. I listen mostly to Levin, but catch Beck once in a while. I like to listen to that stuff while I putter in the snake room.
Herp_Herp_Hooray 01-05-2010, 08:57 AM It is even harder to listen to his radio show!!! Dramatic????
MikeCurtin 01-05-2010, 09:17 AM Hey, Claude....where'd ya go?
One of the reasons I mentioned watching him this week is because of the way he's going to be laying out all his claims over the past year with actual video of what he said and when he said it. You know, all his lies. Then he cites actual journalists that report the same stories later and much more discreetly (except the whole Chairman Mao ornament on the White House "Holiday Tree"...he just showed a picture of that).

I'm going on 19 years myself.. ;-)
I watched the show last night and Beck did a great job showing video of their own words. How can you deny when there is video?? It's amazing - when confronted with the video some said "they were just joking" or "it was taken out of context"... I say BS - they are all Marxists....

41 and 43 are both progressives. I know they spent money. This is not a Republican vs democrat arguement. It is conservative vs progressive, founding fathers vs marxism
For that graph to be valid, you need to add congress. Tell me, who had the majority at those times of spending?

About the labels. Republicans = conservative / Democrats = Progressive.
Bush 41 and 43 weren't progressives.
The President has the power of the veto.
Bush 43 didn't veto a single spending bill or any bill for that matter.
Until 6 years went by and the Dems got control of the Congress.
He gave out corporate welfare and subsidizes to every Tom Dick and Harry out there.
Clinton. Oh how people love to hate him.
Notice he turned the spending around and forced the Republican held Congress to pay for it's spending.
There was no unfunded (No Child Left Behind) laws passed by Clinton.
It's easy to watch people like Glenn Beck skew facts to complicated subjects.
It's the Democrats that's the problem. Every day on and on.
Has he ever said one good thing the Dems have ever done?
Subject that got skewed.
Death panels for instants.
It was funding to pay your Doctor to discuss your options on how you wanted your end of life treatment to be handled.
It was a Republican idea. And a good one.
Right wing radio and Fox opinion turned it into (Death Panels)
The sheeple line right up and swallow the BS.
Sorry for the long post.
Complicated subjects need more than Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.
MikeCurtin 01-06-2010, 02:01 AM You just used a left-wing blog to refute a right-wing commentator. Um...sorry if I don't take their word for it any more than you take Beck's.
Now, as for labels, there are conservative, liberal, and progressive democrats. The same thing goes for republicans. Liberal/progressive/democrat are not interchangeable. Neither are conservative/republican. Liberal, progressive, and conservative are all ideologies. Republican and democrat are political parties.
Would a conservative pass the stimulus nonsense, prescription drugs, and no child left behind the way G.W. Bush did? No way! You think Michael Bloomberg is conservative? I don't think so.
Hey didn't the whole pay as you go Congress have something to do with Newt Gingrich's Contract with America? I think that was right around the same time Hillarycare was blocked because of its 36% popularity among the American people. This was also just after the Impuded Income Tax was suggested. This was followed by republicans taking over both the House and the Senate....and my how they squandered it the minute there was a Republican in the White House!!!
You don't watch Glenn Beck, yet you know what he talks about. OK, let's talk about death panels, because you have no idea what they are and why they were referred to as such. When we add millions of people to a healthcare system, and no new doctors, with minimal funding, someone will have to decide who gets what kind of care. Tomorrow I will see what I can find in the NY Times, because they did a story on it.
So you see, Claude, you don't know what Glenn Beck talks about. You know what liberal and progressive blogs tell you Glenn Beck talks about.

Mike , I have watched him and everybody on Fox.
Just don't like there poison.
There isn't a real journalist on the whole network.
Now I see your debate tactic. Confuse the topic.
You say lets talk Death Panels then the mention something completely separate. Lack of doctors
Newt did coin the slogan. (Contract with America)
But Clinton steered the ship.
On January 21, 1997, the House voted overwhelmingly (395 to 28) to reprimand House Speaker Newt Gingrich for ethics violations.
That's bipartisanship right there. :)
You are right about one thing. Micheal Bloomberg is a Republican in name only.
So is John McCain.
But back on subject.
Fox is to TV news as the National Enquirer is to the Print news.
And I don't believe anything they say. :lmao:
Here's another source. but the facts are the same.
Republicans sure can spend.
Notice Clinton lowered the debt.
:)

MikeCurtin 01-06-2010, 10:29 AM Glenn Beck never claimed to be a real journalist. He's an opinion guy, as he fully discloses.
As for "death panels", the term has been used to describe the proposed agencies that would be making decisions as to what kind of care is provided to whom in the case of rationing (which is unavoidable). This would result in beauracrats deciding who gets what care. Older patients would inevitably not have access to certain life saving procedures that they would otherwise have been afforded with private insurance. I wasn't trying to confuse the topic...I'm glad you mentioned it if you thought I was. That is not something I do.
I completely agree on the benefit of the bi-partisan reprimand of Newt Gingrich being a good thing. That also doesn't change the fact that the '94 election was one of the primary reasons for that. People were pissed and voted in lots of new Congressmen in an attempt to say "We want accountability", and he was held accountable....GOOD!!!
Right....Fox isn't a news source because the Obama administration says it isn't. Not even gonna debate that one.
As for Republicans spending, you bet! The Republicans under Bush spent almost as much as the Democrats are spending now! This is not a party issue! They are spending OUR money that we don't have, giving themselves raises, and telling us we have to sacrifice. BOTH PARTIES!!!! I can concede the problems with Republicans, now how do you feel about the bribes that helped get the crucial votes on this Healthcare monstrosity?
As for Clinton lowering the debt, we already established that the pay as you go policy that was adopted in '94 wasn't his design, and the lowering of the debt was the result of a new accountable Congress, and a president of the opposing party. I drives me crazy how some folks want to give him all the glory for the economy, but as soon as anyone mentions the growth in Islamic extremist attacks and the simultaneous slashing of our military and intelligence agencies, all we hear is "It wasn't Clinton, it was Congress".
How's this? Accountability for EVERYONE!!!

Who founded Media Matters?
As for his "lies", yes, he "lied" about who came over to whom. It was never established whether or not someone from Amtrak told him the seats were reserved. Just so you know, the person who wrote that article lied about him not answering Barbara Walters question. At about 5:40 +/-, when asked about whether or not he checks facts, he said, "Of course I do". Of course Ms. Walters ignored him, or perhaps didn't hear him because he was smack dab in the middle of 3 cackling hens.:dunno:
