I'd always been interested in hots simply to be able to add to the anti-venom stores locally. The things they are finding out about venom now and being able to use it for is incredible though.

Wow, thanks for the great post J! Definitely incredible what can be done nowadays. My lab uses tetrodotoxin in our electrophysiology recordings to eliminate excitatory synaptic transmission so we can judge how different brain cells respond to stimulation (ex vivo in rats of course!)
