Does anyone have a Nature Spirits Incubator? Im trying to figure out where to put my thermostate probe. They say to put in in front of the heater fan which is on the bottomn but when i do that the tub temps are to low, when i put the probe in a tub on the lower shelf and set the thermostat to 89 the temp in the tubs on the top shelf are about 3 or 4 degrees cooler. And when i put it in a tub on the top shelf the tubs on the lower shelf usually rang from 87 to 90 degrees. So either i have a bad digital thermometer or im doing something wrong? Any advice? :dunno:

Mine is setup exactly how it looks in your picture as to the placement of the thermostat probe...I didn't have any problems last season or so far this season...:yessir:

I have mine setup similar, however I have a water bowl betwen fan and probe. Helps to break up and distribute the air from the fan as well as add humidity

I have my probe placed about an inch from where it enters the incubator and have never had a problem. You will see a temperature fluctuation from shelf to shelf though. Don't drive yourself nut trying to get them all the same.

I just set the helix at 90 degrees and leave them alone. I have four of the Nature Spirit Incubators and have been using them for the past five years with no problems. Typically my eggs hatch around day 52-54.

Just make sure the probe doesn't accidentally get pulled out of the incubator. This happened to a friend of mine and he lost all of his clutches due to this.

I would hang the probe in the middle it should NOT go in the egg box. Most digital thermometers are only reliable to +/- 2 degrees. Too hot is not good however a little cooler than 88 is no problem. Hope this helps a little.

I did the same thing with my old small refrigerator.

i let my probe hang off one of the middle shelves so it os not touching anything simply hanging in the air also make sure your fan is plug into a different outlet i hand plug mine into the helix outlet and it was not running at full strenght due to the helix monitoring the temperature and only allowing enough power to maintain the temperature at 89 so the fan was not circulating the air good due to lack of power when i switched it to a seperate extension cord everything worked fine

Yep, have to make sure the air is circulating 24/7. :yessir:

was talking to a friend about this, he said that he has a temperature probe in each egg tub also becuase even if its 90 in their the eggs produce their own heat and be too hot. When i tested this i found the the egg tubs were 89 when the Incubator was 90, but that was without eggs....

Thanks everyone... But does anyone put holes in the egg boxes with this?

I put three little holes on both sides of the lids. I don't think you need to, it's just something that I have been doing for years and haven't had any problems with eggs drying out. I also use vermiculate as a medium as opposed to perlite or Hatch Rite.
My friends that use those mediums don't put any holes in their lids.

Same here, I use the 6 inch deep round deli cups that would normally be used to sell animals in at shows. Clear tape over all but two holes with vermiculite.
