I am trying to find a retailer/wholeseller that sells "newsprint" unprinted newspaper. I am looking for the pre-cut or rolls not the pads. Any ideas? I have found a few supply stores that sell them online but shipping is crazy:mad:

Try your local newspaper agency. from what i have gathered.. most of them are recycling it now.

I called them this morning....they wouldn't help. They were about as helpful as there newspaper colums....LOL!

Lowes also has it for the smae price as home depot but double the amount of sheets. Home depot has it for like 8 and some change for 70 sheets and lowes has it for the same price for 140 sheets. This is what I use from Lowes..........

You can also try cardboard box supplies & mfg, as well as paper bag wholesalers. I get mine from a local paper supply co.

I ended up picking some up at lowe's today...140 sheets for $8.98. Thanks for all who replied!

We've used printed newspaper for years with no adverse effects. We get it from the local newspaper. They put all the leftover papers from the day before in a recycle bin. We asked permission to take some and they told use to take all we want and it's free.

I never liked that white paper from Uhaul or Lowes or where ever it was, that Duck brand stuff. Too "smooth" and it never absorbed any liquids.

We've used printed newspaper for years with no adverse effects. We get it from the local newspaper. They put all the leftover papers from the day before in a recycle bin. We asked permission to take some and they told use to take all we want and it's free.

I think it looks cleaner. So far so good, it seems to be holding humidity better that I expected!

I go to my local newspaper and they give me their 'end rolls' I have so much unprinted newpaper now I don't know what to do with it. :lmao: It's great 'craft' paper too for the kids.:rockon:

I use the rolls of indented kraft from uline. A bit thicker than newsprint. I really like the holder they have that you can get with it. Mounts on the wall, and you tear off the sizes you need. Real convenient.

Uhaul has like 200 sheets for 8$ you cut it in half and it fits perfect for a CB-70. Hope this helps :cheers:

I just got some from Home Depot, only $4 for 100 sheets.

$8.98 for 140 sheets...figure 2 sheets per tub...I'll have to figure this one out because I think nice, absorbant paper towel may still be cheaper. :dunno: I'll let you know my findings...

I used to get mine from Home Depot, when it was in boxes and 145 sheets. Then they switched to the smaller in bags, and it had ragged edges and some random shiny sheets that I wouldn't use, because they would get "gluey" if it got wet.

Now I use the ones from Lowes exclusively - even cuts, and consistent quality of paper throughout. Lowes isn't even convenient to me, but I go out of my way to go to Lowes to get my paper. If I'm visiting a friend who lives near a Lowe's, I make sure to stop and pick up several packs.

I used to use printed newspaper all the time, but I hated when my snakes decided to "paint" with the wet ink, and hated having dirty bellies from the ink.

The ink is vegetable based, so it's not toxic, but I like my snakes to be "purty" and not dirty! LOL

Pak-Mail...or other local mailing supply stores....25 lbs for 22.00....each store is independent so deal with the owner...also I have been told you can find it at the bigger U-haul rental places...

You read my mind. I would go broke quickly at those prices. I get all the printed paper I can hold for free. I can see why you would want it to look clean, but it is hard to keep things in budget as is. I am glad you found what you are looking for.

Sorry about resurrecting an old post, but I've been using this unprinted newspaper now for about a month and I LOVE IT! It seems to last so much better than regular printed newspaper, there's no ink to contend with, and it costs less than the paper towel I had been using. I was getting about 44 tub changes out of an 8 roll package of paper towel, but with the unprinted newspaper I get 70 2-sheet tub cleanings out of the Duck brand newspaper that's listed above and found at Lowes. The newspaper costs about $8.12 for 140 sheets, and the paper towels were costing about $8-9 for 8 rolls, depending if it's on sale. So the newsprint will makes a big difference to my costs!

Another plus side is that the newsprint doesn't get moved around in the tubs as much as paper towel and urine isn't wicked away throughout the tub as easily. The only downside that I could find is that it's noisy...when the snakes move around or under it, whereas paper towel is silent. But at least I know that my snakes are alive and well when I hear them! :D

I hope this helps someone starting out or if you're already a paper towel person. My advice, buy a package and give it a try, you may find that you like it as much as I like using it! :yes:

I'm in the same boat as you kerig...I love the duck brand stuff!! In all honesty the cost is minimal when you cut the 140 sheets in half you get 280....6qt=half of a half sheet 15 qt=1 half sheet 32qt=2 half sheets...works for me!!

You can get 2400 sheets for about $55.00 shipped that fit perfectly in the 28 quart boxes or fold them in half and they fit the 12 quart boxes. The sheets measure 15 x 20.

Or you can get 1200 sheets which fit the CB-70's for about the same price shipped. And those measure 20 x 30.

I used to use builders paper which is thicker, but I would have to take the time to cut it to size. I like this pre cut paper much better.

Could the manuafacturer be shaving off a bit to a little more $$ overall, figuring that anyone using it for packing wouldn't notice? This made me a bit PO'd at Duck Brands! :mad:

What about flipping the shelves to put the grate on top? I wonder if putting heat tape on the grate would be a problem....
