So my oldest male Dr. Evil has not calmed down since i got a second male a little over a week ago. After the first few hours i figured id put newpaper over half of his front door so that he couldnt readily see out (didnt do this to the other males enclosure as Orion could care less about dr. evil). This did not slow Dr. Evil down in the least. He has been headbobbing away for over a week now, staying almost permanently black bearded (sept when he is sleeping). So yesterday i blocked off the entire front to his tank hoping he will calm down. still no change, he can not see orion in the least, but he is still headbobbing and black bearding like a champ. I cant really think of anything else to do. i cant change the room arrangement cause we have cats so my reptiles have a closed off room of the house to keep the cats away from them. Changing tank arrangement wont do much as Dr. evil cant actually see orion in his tank he just knows its there. Any input would be appreciated.

I don't know what to tell you. My male was pretty excited when I got my female for a couple days then but then he calmed down and usually doesn't pay much attention when she's in his line of sight.
Is he eating regularly?

he is eating greens but not touching live feeders at the moment. Though he has only been out of brumation since the first week of jan. Maybe there were just too many changes too quick lol as i got two new females and that new male. He is healthy and hasnt lost any weight. just acting like an idiot over the new addition.

If it were me I'd just keep a close eye on him for awhile. I've never dealt with a brumation yet so I don't know what the normal feeding response is after coming out of one. But as long as he still looks and acts healthy I probably wouldn't worry too much about it. Hopefully someone w/more experience will chime in soon!
PS- Is he running back and forth trying to get out? Or just headbobbing basically?

he is just headbobbing in the direction that he knows orion lives at lol. he still does all his normal movements to and from his basking site, up on top of his hide, eating his greens, but as soon as he situates himself he goes right back to headbobbing. the reason he isnt eating live feeders (least i think) is cause he is so preoccupied with the fact that there is another male in his "house" lol. I just wish there was a way to stop it lmao.
He'll chill eventually. As long as he isn't racking his face up I would not worry about it. Coming out of brumation at the same time as adding new girls and another male just has his hormones raging like a teenage boy. One of the main things though while he's in that state and being like that is to be careful when you put him with a girl, as when they are that worked up is when they can get a little over exuberant in the biting part of the mating process. Just keep an eye on him when you are going to breed.

I wont be breeding till later in the season this go round as the military is moving me and the clan to new orleans in may. Dont want to be trying to travel eggs and/or hatchlings 17 hours in a car lol. Ill just keep an eye on him and hope he calms down. Crazy lil SOB lol

Wow, waiting sounds like a good idea with all that going on!!
And, yeah, I've had some males decide to go nuts on me like that too, they settle eventually. And, it's usually the younger ones, they just can't handle the testosterone yet. Good luck with the upcoming move and everything going on!!

When did you start the burmation????
I am just asking because JAN. seems wicked early.
Is this his first year???Could just not be in the swing of things yet.
I wouldnt worry about the diet one bit.I have had beardies that just go off eating bugs for no reason at all but then snap back into it like crazy.Dont know if you have tried a few silk worms but they work wonders!!!
All in all i would say
1:short burmation
2:teenager ready to get his groove on or fight..lol...
3: extended periods in the hot spot or if the tank is constantly hot in general male beardies seem to get neurotic.(Just a lil side note that people seem to forget).
Simple solution to #3...I offer 12 hours of uvb and 8 hours of a hot spot.
Feeding bugs first 1 hour after they wake and greens in mid afternoon.
Gives them plenty of time to soak in the heat.
Blaaaa sorrryyy for the babbling..

he went down in september. And woke up on his own that early. I havent tried silks yet but i have tried supers dubia and turks. This was his second brumation, last years was around the same length of time.
