Hey everybody.
Thought Id get the monitor section started. I keep yellow ackies, Kimberly rocks, blackheads and one very pissed off croc. Hoping to get some red ackies real soon. Maybe some flavis in the future as well. Who the heck knows :).
I am TERRIBLE with a camera and mine is a POS but here are some pics for starters:

He is a handful, yes indeed. I kinda took him in since he had no where else to go.Believe me it wasnt my dream to have a 7'+ wild caught male croc in the house, LOL!
Actually, the crocs are not "mean" as a lot of people think they are. They are rather shy. They would rather avoid trouble if they can. Unlike a nile or even an argus which can be very aggressive, crocs would rather be left alone. The problem with crocs is their hardware. If they do get a hold of you its a big deal. Their claws and jaws are in a different class than other monitors. They can do a lot of damage.
With my guy he's fine as long as he's above my head. If he's looking down at me he feels more secure and doesnt do anything. I can move around his cage (carefully) and he just sits and watches me. If I get close he might give me a hiss or curl up his tail in anticipation of a good tail whip but he doesnt attack. BUT if I corner him....which I make it a point not to do...he will defend himself oh hell yeah.
Getting him in and out of the cage is a WWE Royal Rumble. But I designed the cage so I can access 90% of it without disturbing him. I kinda designed it with hot snakes in mind. He has a hide which I use as a catch box. Ill shoo him in there and close it and hes safe in his hide box so I can clean the entire cage when it needs it. I have a few trap doors which I can open and reach in when he is somewhere else. It just makes life easier on both of us. He's an older lizard, he's set in his ways, he aint gonna change. Perhaps if raised from a hatchling he would be less skittish, I dont know this is my one and only croc. But even a tame one (if they exist) still has the potential for extreme damage so you gotta respect them. Kinda like a full grown retic. I like big snakes but you should always handle them with care. Even if they are puppy dog tame. Some folks might not like that statement but if Im handling a 15+ snake Im going to be VERY aware of whats going on and not have a la de da attitude.

That Croc is pretty wicked looking. I'd love to get into monitors someday when I get more space.

Awesome Monitors!
Thanks for sharing... That Croc really is a badass looking animal!
That's a nice collection. The croc looks dangerous LOL. How the hell can you afford to feed something that size? He could eat people.
I don't think I'd be caught anywhere near the front of that lizard. Looks good for an old guy though.

The croc monitors are awesome.... what else can you say about them? It's the closest thing to a Komodo or a dinosaur!

He eats a lot yeah. Its not too bad. I order my frozen rats by the 100 and you get a pretty good deal. I also use frozen chickens whenever they are on sale. Oh, and the mailman. He kept leaving my mailbox open and my letters got wet. I showed him.
He has the potential to be dangerous but luckily hes not mean. Just a little nervous.

Nice croc!
Can I borrow him for the kids who want me to finance their Euro vacations by getting overpriced mag subscriptions?

Oh man are you getting hit by those kids, too?
I try to support the local schools when the kids come around selling candy or flowers or whatever. Ill spend a few bucks. Well a couple months ago these guys were selling magazines. Sure, Ill get a mag. Im looking at the prices. 45 bucks for a sub that should cost maybe 20? Sheesh! Gonna take a pass, sorry. Thats just silly.
Sure you can borrow the croc. You can borrow him for a couple years if you want! Have fun! LOL!
