Love the bright color on them. Very cool snakes. Congrats!
anendeloflorien 11-19-2008, 09:26 AM That's so weird Alicia. I just picked up a couple new snake books last night at B&N One's a kids book but it's got great pictures and amazing info it's DK press' "Snakes" and the other one is "Boas and Pythons of the World". Well anyways I was flipping through the first one and I saw those exact snakes and I was saying to myself "I've never seen one of those, I wonder if anyone on the forums has any" lol.
Very cool snakes! I love how you have such a diverse collection dudette

I was going to ask what the feed on. So I will what do they eat?

jknudson 11-20-2008, 04:47 PM If I remember, I think she said they're amphibian feeders...

Youre correct :)
These guys feed primarily on Sirens and Amphiumas, as well as frogs and salamanders.
These guys here are feeding readily on baby green tree frogs. :yessir:
Simple care, as far as husbandry goes though. Much like the sunbeam snakes.

Varanus99 11-20-2008, 06:45 PM Very interesting snakes. Ive heard mention of them but really dont know anything about them.
So they eat frogs and other amphibians huh? Is it possible to get them onto rodents? Is that the goal? Would they respond to scenting a pinkie with a frog for instance? Or do they strictly need amphibians and dont eat anything else?
How big do they get?
They are very pretty. Its cool that your collection sways off the beaten path. :yourock:
Gator 11-20-2008, 07:20 PM Crazy the way the scales just blend into the eye color-you got a Darth Maul (the ONLY reason to watch Phantom Menace!) thing going on there...
guyergenetics 11-21-2008, 01:21 PM Very nice. You wouldn't imagine how hard it is to find and photograph these in the wild.

You can get them to take Pinkies and the like, but, you run the risk of Heart disease and fatty liver by doing so. These guys very specialized. Amphibians, for the most part, only. ( if you can get them to eat fish too, they can be added to the diet as well, but from the people i have talked to that have owned them, Amphibians are IT)
They can get UP to eight feet, but average size is about four feet there abouts. So, not bad.
I like the variety myself. All of one thing got boring. ( ball pythons) and while i still like them, they arent the focus of my collection so much anymore. I find other species to be much more rewarding. *shrugs* they just capture my interest more... :)

Nothing wrong with that! The diverse abundance of species is what makes this hobby interesting...
nwheat 11-21-2008, 05:48 PM They're beautiful, Alicia!! :)
I like variety as well. Where do you get your feeder frogs?
