Do you rest your male each week? I try to put my males with females Mon - Friday and give the weekend off. How do you do it?

I generally put them together for a couple days.. If I see them lock up, I separate as soon as they are done, let him rest for a day or two then on to the next girl. I also give everybody a 2 day rest right after feeding.

I put males with females for 24 hours...If they get it on - He gets 3 days rest and a meal...Then it's off to the next girl...If there ain't no action in 24 then he goes to the next girl in the rotation...Works like a charm for me...:yessir:

I put my males in with females, and if they lock, I give them 3-4 days off with a meal given in that time. And then it's back to the rotation.

Males that don't lock, I cycle through the girls I want them to hit, do this for 2-3 days, unless they finally lock, while trying all the tricks to get them amped up to breed. If this doesn't work...I give them a week off and try again.

we record anything from bowl wraps, tail wagging, lockups or any other weird behavior... Helps to understand the animals better and makes for great documentation... Might be overkill but we like to document EVERYTHING. :)

As far as breeding goes - I record lock-ups - Ovulation - Pre-lay sheds and the finally product - Whether their good, infertile or slugs...

I do my guys on a 3 days in 3 days off weather I see a lock or not. I can't watch them 24/7 so they get a break regardless. With feedings in between.

It's great to see how others do it. I do it a bit differently then most of you have said and it's worked great for me.

On Monday the male goes with a female. If on Tuesday they are locked I check them in another day. If they are not locked, the male goes to the next female. I do this until Sat. On Saturday all males get pulled until Monday.

I pretty much put my males in for 48 hours then they have a feed and week or so off. I have got a high male to female ratio though. I think too many people run their males into the ground. Ball pythons retain sperm as we know. I have had successfull clutches with only one pairing in the past.

Won't the male rest if he needs to? My boa has been on a couple days off a couple days. I know your talking BP's just wondering if its different.

I give them 2-4 days rest with small amount of food, some of them just have a specific project.... so I'll breed him to the same 1 or 2 females every few weeks....

This is my first season and I'm putting the male in and if he doesn't lock up in 24-48hrs I move him to the next girl.. If he does lock I wait untill he's done and give him 3-4 days off with a feed. I hope this works for me, we'll see!!

I don't have many so I am doing the monday in out on friday thing right now, feed friday night to all that will and start again monday...I have been moving the males that are separated from the females the next day onto the next girl in line. I record everything (mainly because I will forget the next day).

I just through 10 male morphs in with 2-3 females at a time.. If they get out they can rest.. LOL!
