Noob breeding stuff again. :)

So my Albino het snow and poss het alb fem have been courting and hooking up since Sept. I have not seen an obvious ovulation swell in her. He is still trying to breed her as of last night. Just the past 3 days the female has been wandering around and sniffing at the door. She is acting like she wants to get out like I have not seen before.

Is she hungry and she wants to go find food since I won't feed her?
Is she not going to go this time around?
Is this normal and she's gravid?

Has anyone seen this in breeding females before and do you know why it is?

Usually gravid females won't eat... try offering a meal a little smaller than usual. If she has a feeding response...she may just be acting restless. If she won't lock any longer, and doesn't show interest in food, she may have ovulated and is trying to get comfortable...

I guess now, if you think she may have ovulated, watch for her shed cycle to start. Otherwise, take that ol' gal out and palpate her, see if you can feel anything going on.

I had a female 2 years ago eat right up till she dropped the babies.

I have a girl that eats right up to laying, also. She has no problems crawling off the clutch, either. Just give her a f/t rat and she'll abandon her babies! Slut.

Boas don't have clutches.

It could be she wants a break and the male is an aggressive breeder. Generally a male won't stop breeding until the girl ovulates or stops producing pheromones. In the wild , the female is able to get away for a break but captivity has them locked in. Try pulling your male for 2 - 3 days to give her a break and re-introduce him. If she is still way restless she may be done or is trying to reject that male.

OOPS! Had been reading alot of ball python posts before this one......It was Heloise, (known more commonly as "Hel") my largest BP female I mistakenly posted about.

My boas are sweethearts....so far.
