we try to get to church (RC ) at least a few times a month (depends on what days the reptile shows are on, and of course various other less important things )

I'm not a particularly religious man. Organized religion left a bad taste in my mouth many years ago. "We" talk when I'm troubled. I pray for all bad things to end good and try to accept the outcomes. My 'church' is wilderness, if that makes sense to anyone.

dude i've had many epiphany moments in the solitude of the wilderness. i can relate.
i've also had a few hot-diggity moments in the wilderness, in the company of a nice warm, receptive, (female) homo sapiens, and 'ya can't do that in my church now can 'ya ! ( not without the first class ticket to hell anyway ! )
so your church wins this time.

Minimum of twice a week, Sundays and Wednesdays. I have worked with the youth at our church going on 10 years now, so there are quite a few extra activities involving them. Also sang on the worship for 12 years. Stepped down from that this last year because of some personality conflicts with the worship minister.

I understand the wilderness church. Some of my most intimate times with God have been backpacking alone on a trail in the mountains seeing the land the way He made it.

I haven't attended a Sunday church service in my entire life. Don't plan to start. I have been in churches for weddings and funerals but thats about it.

Once a week on average besides personal study.

Eh, I was raised in a very fundamentalist christian family. I think it was great for me growing up and the morals and values it taught have lasted me for a very long time. However, I think that the Bible, while I still believe it to be the absolute truth, is best left to personal interpretations. I'm tired of having to read through a library of books expounding on obsolete and sometimes incomprehensible verses and coming up with a list of rules that you HAVE to live your life by or *boom* straight to hell with ya do not pass go, do not collect $200. Then you can read another book on the same verse which will tell you something ENTIRELY different.

I think religion has it's place but it's not for me right now. I've seen too much of "the real" in the Army and in my life for that. I am a spiritual person and do pray and do read the bible but I prefer not to be told exactly how to live my life regarding things that are not even clear.

I agree 100% with the statements of communing with God in the wilderness though. Some of my favorite memories are time spent alone in the woods and just appreciating everything that He made. It really does blow my mind to see and I think that's one of the reasons I love animals so much.

I agree 100%. And I try to "attend" daily.

Trying to get back into the swing of things but between working 60-70hrs 6 days a week mon-sat and sunday generally being a feeding/cleaning day as well as my only day off it's hard to motivate myself to wake up early enough to get out to church.

I plan on getting back into it atleast maybe once a week or every other week but with more and more going on I just find it too difficult to actually make it ... I do however believe faithfully in God and Jesus Christ, I'm very thankful and appreciative for all the good lord has done.

No church attendance for me. I've been told by some church-goers that I'll burst into flames if I enter. That's just not tempting enough for me to bother going. Sorry. I have my own beliefs, and they don't involve going to a building.

The Bible says go to church, so I go to church.
I love it! WE praise and worship for about half an hour, the pastor delivers his sermon and about 2 hours later we are done, feels like 15 min…

Interesting, if one looks in the Bible, Jesus, Moses etc usually go into the wilderness/ mountains when they need serious alone time with God…funny how simple things seem when one gets out into nature…”my soul calms when I seek the presence of God…”

LOL, that's reason enough not to go to their churches, but don't let that kind of ignorance keep you from doing what you feel is right. Bursting into flames because you don't believe what someone else believes just DOESN'T happen any more :lmao:

I don't go as often as I should. Work is really a conflict also for me. If I didn't have to work weekends I would be there more often :yessir:
