I finally converted my little 8 by 10 shed into a rat room.. Spending 100 bucks every week or two to feed the snakes is killing me, i ordered the watering system on friday so it should be here this week than i should be good to go.. Thanks to everyone for looking

Nice setup....you'll like growing your own rats....I know I do so far....and buying food and bedding is a lot less cheaper each month I have found....and being able to go out and get what you want and when you want....and having it already warm and fresh is even nicer!!!!....My days of warming up frozen dinners for my snakes is almost over

Thanks Bill and John.. Yeah i cant wait to just walk out the door and get my own rats
There's added work for sure, but when you have more than a couple of animals that eat them, breeding your own is the way to go! Looks good!
Looks good. I like growing up our own rats.

Its just a 8.5 by 10.5 shed but its fully insulated and it works great for me, i have the 3 racks with a total of about 70 breeder females.

wow....from the inside pics it looks alot bigger, thanks. Im thinking for making something myself. what would you say the price was to build everything...racks, rodents and shed total???

I have a little heater in there with a thermostat, it stays right around 68 at all times. It probably cost about $1000 to build the shed, when you could probably buy one and have it delivered but it wont be made the way you want it and be insulated.. the racks cost about $120 each in materials (wood, screws and tubs).. then i think i paid about $200 for the materials for all 3 watering systems which is not in the picture but its all hooked up now.. But i can produce my own rats now and dont have to worry about running out and buying them. Over all in the long run it will all pay off.
