Does anyone know what the record is for a single litter of mice? Reason I ask is because I just had one of my females drop a litter of 24 babies and she's still got a good sized belly on her so there may be more coming!!! I took a couple quick pics of the litter before I took a quick head count.

I don't know the record, but that's alot of babies! Are you sure that they are all hers? I only ask because mice will raise their babies together, and if there's one still a little lumpy and one normal looking it may be that one gave birth and the other still is in the process of?

I'm fairly certain they're all hers. I keep my mice together full time and don't mess with pulling pregos. There's another one in there with her that's prego but she's still got a ways to go and the only other one left is the male. I'm certainly hoping they're all there in the morning too and maybe a few more. I googled it and found the current record is 32 and that's not only for mice, but for ANY mammal! Now I'm praying to the snake gods that this is a sign for large clutches this year:master:

If you're gonna be holding back females for breeding, take them from that litter for sure! I've got a couple gals that gave me huge litters, their daughters do the same. 'Grats!

I use to have consistent litters of 20 - 30 babies years ago. Congrats!

That's a pretty good load of babies....Back when I was younger and keeping rat snakes and raising mice....I had one mouse that gave me litters slightly over 30 at a time....But now since I house them all together. I really don't know what size litters mine are having....all I see is a pile of 50+ babies or more in the tub

That was my thought but of you are sure they are all hers I would keep a few females back for sure.

I regularly have 25+ litters.

Just had one born a few days ago of 31 ... and there is another female in the cage due in about a week, and she'll have about the same amount.

I tend to feed off down to about 15 per mom.... beardies, baby kenyans, and any I cant feed off go in the freezer for back up.
