View Full Version : Our own Reptster shipping program
Larry Petty 11-19-2008, 09:39 PM I can't say for sure, but I think David was getting a 60% discount on shipping and giving 40% to Reptster shippers. I wonder if a group of us got together, could we as a community get an agreement with FedEx or UPS.
What do you think? Is it worth a shot?
JChandler 11-19-2008, 09:53 PM Question is would either company take us seriously after the way that David screwed them over, might take more action and time testing to get those rates instead of smooth talking.
Larry Petty 11-19-2008, 09:55 PM I agree. I'm sure bridges have been burnt at least with FedEx. I'm not sure about UPS. I really think it's worth a try.

I think it's fortunate that Proextoics is working to get something established with UPS and not Fedex....

But with UPS your still looking at a limited market that may not be enough until they allow snakes. From the way Roybn talked it wasn't something that was likely to happen within the next month or even two.
Not saying any of this isn't worth checking into because the worse they could say is no.
I think everyone is on board for a discount.
Southern Wolf 11-19-2008, 10:07 PM I think one of the hurdles would be getting FedX to let someone else use YOUR shipper number. Right now that is a big no-no... at least with the info I got from my Rep. That is why I challenged the fact that it EVER was a legit operation.
It is definately a sound idea... but getting FedX on board may be tough....dont know.
Larry Petty 11-19-2008, 10:09 PM I wonder if I asked my FedEx rep if she could look into what happened and what it would take to do it, but do it right. I may just call her tomorrow.

True. I never understood this either. I will ask though.
JChandler 11-19-2008, 10:13 PM I wonder if they could set it up like a co-op so that we really wouldn't be breaking the rules by shipping under someone else's account since it would be all the contributors or shippers in this case....
Larry Petty 11-19-2008, 10:18 PM Another thing I would like to see is direct billing. So there is never an issue with FedEx not getting their payment, all shipments would be paid with CC when shipment is created.

The only problem with that is that they don't really "set" the price until the package is checked in at their facility. Many times what they actually charged my was off from the "quote" they gave me.
Larry Petty 11-19-2008, 10:48 PM Hmmm. You know, I have to admit, I've never checked this out.
JChandler 11-19-2008, 10:56 PM Have you ever had one off that much Jenea? I know for me I haven't but there was one time with UPS where my package cost me an extra $25 for some crap about an inch that wasn't done right. I now over estimate all my boxes up, so it if is 12x9x6 I normally end up putting in 12x10x7 or something to that effect.
xanaxez 11-19-2008, 11:07 PM i dont think it could hurt to try or atleast find out if it can be done the legal way. all could be said is no so why not give it a try if you want too. maybe if a community of us did try to make it happen and work in a legititmate way perhaps it could be done. its always been said one bridge burnt leads to another road opened so its possible lol.
FloridaHogs 11-19-2008, 11:08 PM I think the most I was off before was about $15, twice. It was when they first started that dimensional crap. What I was quoted was based on weight, what I was charged was based on dimeinsion.
xanaxez 11-19-2008, 11:45 PM i guess what ever makes them the most money is what they will go by, now with the increase at the beginning of the year even with gas down and everything else its just all about the money. i kind of wish ups would start allowing us to ship snakes and see what kind of profit loss fedex would take or what measures they would take to get some of there customers back.
