...actually name your animals? Mine all have names. I try to search for names that fit their personality, just like I would for a dog or cat. How about you? Just numbers (Jeff) or names?

I try to search for names that fit their personality, just like I would for a dog or cat. How about you? Just numbers (Jeff) or names? BT 11-20-2008, 07:59 AM No names - Just numbers... JOHNS6068 11-20-2008, 08:05 AM All mine have names courtesy of the misses :D Varanus99 11-20-2008, 08:05 AM Hehehe..Ive named a few. When I had a lot of snakes I didnt name them. I had tons of colubrids. Just too many to name. I did name a few of the boids based on their personality. I had a pair of out of control burmese named Axe and Smash. Nowadays I have fewer animals so some have names. Ill mention a few. I have a blue tongue skink named Bluebeard for obvious reasons. I have another blue tongue named S**tpickle which is a long story, lol! My croc monitor is named Scarface for two reasons. First, he is wild caught so he has a noticeable scar on his face. Duh. And the second the banter I get to have with him is just too funny. "Joo people, wit jur bearded dragons and geckos...I bury dose ****-a-roaches! I heard on da stinkin' internet everybody tinks Ima bad guy. What does that make other lizards? Good? So say good night to da BAD GUY! Cuz joo aint never gonna see another bad guy like dis lemme tell you" My GF always asks if Im talking to the lizard again. Yes I am, leave me alone. Speaking of the GF she named some of the leopard geckos. We have Mork and Mindy, Tarzan and Jane, Pumpkin and Cheese. Yeah, my names are cooler. Varanus99 11-20-2008, 08:08 AM No names - Just numbers... I think its easier to name lizards than snakes. They have a little more personality. Quig 11-20-2008, 08:16 AM **** pickle??? You're gonna have to tell us about that one someday :lmao:. I've got a total of 13 critters so yes, they've got names. Varanus99 11-20-2008, 08:18 AM **** pickle??? You're gonna have to tell us about that one someday :lmao:. I've got a total of 13 critters so yes, they've got names. Ok ya talked me into it. The skink is a big fat log. Huge eater. I saw this video on YouTube. It has foul language so anyone who is offended by that dont click: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBj3y-5RUh8 The rest is history anendeloflorien 11-20-2008, 08:23 AM Yeah I name ALL of the animals, even the rats (not the ones that are going to get eaten though my girl thinks if she names them fast enough that means they won't be fed off :nono:). Right now I'm all snakes, once we start breeding though I don't think I'm gonna have time or energy to name everything that we hatch out unless they're keepers. Its like being addicted to heroin. It took me a few months to kick the habit. I drove everyone around me crazy. constrictorkeeper 11-20-2008, 08:55 AM used to be numbers only... then the kids got involved. now they all have names. ck African Beast 11-20-2008, 09:23 AM Names?....YES PLEASE Anything with a name and a actual date of birth in Africa is smarter then the locals... THE B Mrs. Sputnik 11-20-2008, 09:39 AM We name some and others are just numbers Quig 11-20-2008, 09:53 AM Ok ya talked me into it. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff315/QuigsPlace/dontknow.gif:wamma: BryonsBoas 11-20-2008, 11:01 AM Most everything has names. We're still working on number IDs that we're happy with. Sidviciouser 11-20-2008, 11:07 AM used to be numbers only... then the kids got involved. now they all have names. ck My kids name all mine within 24 hours and then it sticks. It's also hard to tell my wife that I'm excited about the outcome of number 23and number 12 next season. In a small collection the names seem to be of some use. OwnedByRetics 11-20-2008, 11:08 AM Most of mine have names, still trying to think of good ones for a few. I tend to name them human names like Frank, Wanda, Helen, Harriett, etc. Quig 11-20-2008, 11:21 AM I tend to name them human names like Frank, Wanda, Helen, Harriett, etc. LOL, my BCIs name is George. luciddream 11-20-2008, 11:46 AM Some of them have names, some don't. The first 10 or so got names, now they only get a name if they "earn" it. Like, we have a rat that kind of moves it's head back and forth all weird, so my wife named her Stevie Wonder. Our biggest ball got the name Bertha. One of our ATB's got named Hiss, because of the EXTREME resemblance to the snake in the Disney Robin Hood. Our blood got named Damian because when we went to go pick him up, he was in a tub of water soaking, and he would lunge at anyone that came close enough to him. We decided to have the owner of the shop probe him before we left, and he left a tooth in on of the employee's hand. Strangely enough, he was a sweetheart when we got him home. He just really didn't like those people, apparently. Everybody else just has an ID. FloridaHogs 11-20-2008, 12:25 PM So it appears most name their animals to some extent. Larry Petty 11-20-2008, 12:37 PM We started off naming our reptiles... Slim, Storm, Raven, Sunny... But now we have way too many. Rapture 11-20-2008, 12:39 PM All my permanent residents have names - I usually name them according to their color, morph, or markings... or if I just think a name is cool. I am bad at coming up with names so I have a baby name book. My dad found the book in the living room one day while I was at work. You can imagine what was going through his mind for 8 hours until he could ask me about it when I got home. Seriously funny ****. Gator 11-20-2008, 12:43 PM I vote for names if they're keepers, #'s just take the fun out of it. Ya know, 'Good morning, AF2087' just doesn't have the same ring... Tosha 11-20-2008, 12:47 PM Most of ours are named we've got everything from Tarzan and Tinkerbell to Anakin and Hellboy - thankfully naming them is not my job. Aonaen 11-20-2008, 03:09 PM All mine have names but I don't have that much but if I had a lot I think I would just number them. ReptileMan27 11-20-2008, 04:12 PM Some of them have names, but im not good at nameing things so I let my girl name most of them.. jknudson 11-20-2008, 04:33 PM I have names for a few of mine...most I just refer to as what they are genetically plus a number. rabernet 11-20-2008, 06:33 PM All of mine have names - there are a few still waiting to tell me their names. The three spiders I'm keeping are Tonka, Willow and Storm. My mojave male is Murphy, my lemon pastel is Winston, my het clown male is Oliver, my het hypo is Casper, my het pied is Piper and my Jolliff Tiger is Zaphod. I have a dinker male named Spenser. Would you say it is mostly the ladies and kids that name them? I see quite a few of you guys says "she did it". My boyfriend named J-Lo and Libra for me, and he names most of the rats too. It's my way of getting him to take a vested interest in my hobby - he's not a snake person, but he'll hold them every now and then, but only the ones he's named. JChandler 11-20-2008, 08:35 PM I like numbers...I do have names but normally it is just the biting ones that get a good name. wolfyhound 11-20-2008, 08:41 PM I've had up to 50 ball pythons at one time, Right now I have about 35 and every one of them has a name. The only thing that doesn't is the radiated ratsnake. I think I'll name him "Hyper" StudentoftheReptile 11-20-2008, 09:40 PM All of ours have names. However, my animals only have one name. My significant other has the following titles for her pets: Capt.
