First one, no surprise, just about expect to lose alot from first clutches. Hope that the last couple hatch out for ya though! And that the second batch goes better for you!

That's what I have heard about first clutches and why I haven't been over worried that I'm doing something majorly wrong...Right now I'm hoping at least one hatches... But what have you found to be the most successful way on hatching these guys??? How wet or dry should I have the Vermiculite? Air holes in the container yes or no? My temps are stable at 85-86 that I feel really good about...I'm using a nature Spirit incubator..It just seems there is so much variance on how to incubate these eggs as in what your read in books and the internet....Even though she's turning out to be a little pez dispenser I don't want to be dumb and not figure out what if anything I'm doing wrong...:dunno:

Just will say what I do and what works for me. Everybody does it differently, and everybody's way is the ONLY way! (Drives me nuts, lol!!!)
I use vermiculite and although I would love to say that I weigh it out and then pour in the water to the exact measurments , etc, I don't. I add water to the point that it holds together when you squeeze it, but doesn't drip water. Think that perfect beach sand in the middle. Not the dry top stuff and not the wet bottom stuff, that perfect mix in the middle. When that is all stirred up and I am happy with the consistency, I use my finger and make indents for the eggs. Then I put the eggs in there, and I don't bury mine. I leave a bump of white that I can see. Then I snap the top on and put them into the incubator. OH, forgot, I use clear plastic deli's with the small holes around the sides. So some ventilation. I put them into the incubator that is between 84 and 86. I add water as needed, check at least one time a week, this I just kind sprinkle carefully around the eggs, making sure not to drip directly onto them.

I also should say that aside from that I leave them alone, but I don't, I am nosy and check them (even if it's just a glance) about every day!

Thanks...So I'm not really doing anything majorly different then what your doing...makes me feel better it's not all me....I don't have any air holes in my containers but I'm sure I'm opening them enough to make up for the lack of them  Adding some water when needed is probably one thing I needed to do that I wasn't been doing till recently...We'll see how this second batch does...

I found that when I only buried mine half way that by the time it was close to hatching they were almost 3/4 out of the substrate, it compacts over the time it takes. But, think that's probably from adding the water?:dunno: Oh, and I don't do the water in the container, do you find that you are having to add less that way? They are in one of the freezer incubators, and there are water containers in there, so the humidity stays pretty high..
