Yuppers!!! I'm pumped... Going to build me an asf rack this weekend... no more 10 gallon tanks for me!!!

I checked lowes last night and they have 2x2's and 2x3s... the 2x3s were a little straighter so I may just go with them....

WHat hardware cloth should I use? I'm thinking 1/2 is ok because the babys wont be able to reach the cloth anyway so I wont have to worry about them getting out.. What about the weens though? Think they could get through the 1/2? hmmmm

I use 1/2 for my food hoppers now...

I look forward to this. I built a small rack for overages. Mainly three levels using Cement tubs. It works But I am picky and need to refine the design. I used 1/2 and did see one small ASf sitting on top of the rack

ASF hoppers can get out of 1/2", it is recommended to use 1/4" hardware cloth for ASF racks.

Must use 1/4" or you will have them running!

Yup, 1/4" works for mice (at least for mine it does)

Use 1/4" for mice also, but regular rats will need 1/2" if your food will be on top of the hardware cloth.

I now use 1/4 inch for Asf and mice. !/2 inch for rats. I need to pick up some 1/4 inch so I can fix the other rack I am going to just lay it on top. That way I can use it for rats or Asf.

You can use 1/2" but put a piece of 1/4" over it for mice and asf's. When you want to do rats just pull the 1/4" off and you are good to go.......

I currently use the 1/4" for both my rats and mice.... however I dont feed on top of the wire... I have a mix I use... and just dump it in the tub.

I wish the 1/4" wasn't so flimsy. That stuff can be cut with scissors its so thin. :/

The 1/4" stuff I bought was pretty heavy duty... idk!

I finished building this about a week ago.. I have to get some picw for you guys..

One mod I made to the process was instead of using the 7/8 spacers for the runners I just placed the tub on the running and then screw ing the bottom runner to the frame. This way the space for the runner was spot on.

Pics to come soon...

Your looking at the wrong stuff then... cause mine had to be cut with shears.

I got it outside in the lawn and garden section at lowes.... it was near the fencing.

wooopss.... sorry I missed this one.

I mix 1 17lb bag cat food to 1 50lb bag sweet feed (for horses)... and sometimes I will mix in some sunflower seeds as treats.

I mix 1 17lb bag cat food to 1 50lb bag sweet feed (for horses)... and sometimes I will mix in some sunflower seeds as treats.

Do you find that this makes the asf growth times increase over regular 6f?
