im looking a making the rodent racks and see that their is no food dip in the tops on the do it yourself racks..think their rat racks....anyway, anyone have pics over the top to show how its done...or i guess im asking where you put the food?

On the racks that I made, the top is 1/2" hardware cloth. The food goes on the hardware cloth.

yeah, thats what i was thinkin....it said to use 1/4'' but that seams too small for food

1/4 inch is fine for mice and asf. But rats need a little bigger like 1/2.

I use 1/2 in as well and i staple the screen at the bottom of the wood so that there is room for the food.

I did as in the picture above, then added a cross piece to keep the food contained to one area. 1/4 of the top of the tub. I just topped it off weekly or sooner if it needed it.

you can either have it on top of the screen or build pogs to store the food inside the tubs.....if you are you considering space, i would shoot for the top screen method. it allows the animals to have a bit more roaming space and easier to top off with food

i used 1/2 in mesh for mine , worked for rats but mince i would not do , just placed the food on the mesh with no dividers .
