Took my albino tangerine hondo male out of brumation last week. He's up to temp so I figured I'd try feeding him. He was a very picky, lazy eater before. Both he and his mate have not evinced a vigorous feeding response in the past. This time, he hit the mouse within seconds and even made a half-baked attempt to wrap it.

It was very nice to see.

I wish I had pics. He and his mate had such lazy feeding behvior I never imagined I'd *ever* see something that energetic!!!!! So of course I didn't have a camera ready!!! Ordinarily, if he ate, he'd approach a bunch of times, tongue flick it, then open his mouth and put it on one end of the prey. His hesitation after that made me think he was hoping it would just crawl in. (I feed f/t, it's not like it even could accidentally happen,lol). Then lethargically swallow.

I got the pair a little less than a year ago, and the former owner didn't cool them last winter. The brumation this year was apparently very good for him.

I know what you mean. Most of my Hondos don't even coil their meals, they usually just drag them around a bit then swallow it. But man, after I warmed them up it was like a whole new set of snakes! It was very nice to see :D

Zack, saw your project you're excited about for this year. Keep me posted, love the hypos but not so much the vanishing. I'm someone to unload the PLAIN hypo females to!!!!

Oooo....he is pretty!! I am on the hunt for a tang albino female....this just makes me want her even more.
