And finally alligators. When I was much younger I had a baby alligator. Which I wasnt supposed to have but regardless I had one. He was, without a doubt, the COOLEST animal I have ever owned. He was a tiny baby when I got him and he started on feeder goldfish and crickets. He got up to full grown mice and he outgrew me and I had to find a new home for him. Luckily I was in contact with an exotic reptile store who had a "high end" client list who specialized in unusual and dangerous animals. So I was able to find a decent home for him. And yes I know it was very irresponsible for me to take on an animal that I couldnt care for as an adult. I was 19 years old, loopy about reptiles and a little stupid. I would NEVER own one again unless I was prepared to properly house the thing as an adult. Which is damn near impossible in a normal, private home up north so not looking good. But man, you just cant get any cooler than a baby alligator. If I somehow came into a tremendous amount of money one of my first projects would be an alliagator pit in the basement :). Need a bigger house though so first house, then pit.
anendeloflorien 11-22-2008, 08:37 AM Oh geez, my list just keeps getting bigger, especially now that I got the "Snake" book and "Boas and Pythons of the World" and thanks to you happy bastards here on the BLBC! :yourock: I'm just going through going "yup, want that, that, that, maybe, that, that, not right now but someday...... etc

anendeloflorien 11-22-2008, 01:05 PM What do you mean "short ones", tricolors are less that 36 inches??
What? I thought they were 12 foot long child-eating monsters! Jenea, why must you lie to me! J/k Can't wait for the little guys to show up Tuesday!
And I also forgot Gilas, even though I have other venomous on my list that's the only lizard I'd ever really be interested in getting (I'm a snake person lol)

I had always heard Malagasy Hognose were large and pure piss for blood. I'm liking short snakes these days. Easier to house.
Tosha 11-22-2008, 01:52 PM I think I'm just about done -- I'd like to pick up a champagne and maybe one of them deserts that Pro Exotics has otherwise I think I may be done buying balls.
I picked up my first corn today -- we will see if that sparks any interest.
If I had room I'd like to add some more chameleons, chondros, and a few big snakes. But since I don't have the room I don't bother dreaming about it. God I sound like a jaded downer this morning.

No good can come from this at all. We are feeding off each other. Its like having an AA meeting at a brewery.
Its like I think I want this..but then someone mentions they want that...Oh wait I want that too..and the original this...oh look someone posted one of those..so now I want this, that and those. And them. Dont forget about them they do better in groups.

The mads are not tricolors. They are an entirely different species. Tricolors are Lystrophis and the madagascan are Leioheterodon. Every madagascan I have seen has had the same sweet disposition as their North and South American counterparts.

V.nebulosus
V.scalaris
V. nebulosus, that would be a nice species to have eh?

Rob
KordeksKritters 11-26-2008, 09:41 AM You damned snake people...here's a lizard wish list for you guys and gals...
1.2 pure blood Chris Allen red beardies
1.2 Chris Allen pure blood orange beardies
1.2 translucent beardies
A nice breeding trio of sunglow leos (I have one female that is het for this and that, but I would like some pure bloods)
A breeding trio of blazing blizzard leos that won't bite my hands off (I have 2 blizzards and a blazing that are breeding right now, but they are crazy and mean)
A breeding trio of enigma leos (they are just too expensive right now for me)
A B&W tegu or 2 (I will have this some day, just need the space)
Maybe getting back into the crested game (I love them, they are just more than I can take on right now)
My realistic dream with the herps is to try to bring back the high quality animals that used to be around a few years ago, and focus on more of the "pure" lines, bringing out their traits more. Beardies and leos have been so "mutted" up, and I think the quality of some of the more "classic" morphs has gone way downhill. Even some of these new morphs aren't looking so good in the general market.
My dream list basically isn't a specific herp list, but more of the idea of being able to open up my own reptile-based pet store where I breed all of my own stock, including the stuff you normally see as WC animals (agamids are a big love of mine). I also want to move somewhere that I can build outdoor enclosures for the UVB-lovin creatures year round. I have this whole design in my head, and it would ROCK, but I live in PA, so it's never quite warm enough to do it here.
Dude... thats alot... ar you over at Moreliapythons.com Where in OH are you? I'm in SE michigan.... I'm at the Taylor show and Cleveland show every month....
Rob
Thanks, I even forgot to put 1.1 Molluccan Pythons on my list.:wamma:
I am Coastal92 on Moreliapythons.com. That place is my second home.
I am in Columbus OH. How is the Cleveland show, any good?
ScrubyScrubyDoo 11-26-2008, 10:19 AM Cleveland show is pretty good... better than the Columbus show...
I thought i recognized the name and avatar...

No, that wasnt a typo. It's not realistic but it's something I really want. I really, really do. Even more than the blackhead pythons.
Heck, Id even trade my beloved trio of Kimberly rocks for one Alba. Got any?
