Sandfire has been advertising these pvc cages on kingsnake recently. I really like the look of them and the fact that the sides are pvc and not acrylic.

Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm trying to get some feedback before I order one. Thx.

Seth, sorry I can't be much help, but they do look good. Would be MUCH easier than turning a comparible sized tank on end and rebuilding the front.

Those are awesome cages for cresties. I had a few of them and really liked them. They'd be a bit too flimsy for much else, but perfect for geckos. Very easy to clean.

Just make sure you keep the humidity up. Depending on where your at this can be easy or hard...

I was keeping 1.2 adult cresteds in each with no issues.

I have eight of them that I bought about 18 months ago for my Tokays. The screen allows you to mist daily, which makes it possible to provide necessary drinking water without water bowls and without worrying about the cage becoming dank. The catch is, you almost have to mist daily if you run the air conditioner or furnace a lot...or cover some of the screen parts.

I would probably use them for my cresteds, but I have so many now that it would cost me about $25,000 to switch everything over.

I keep mine in these racks that I had custom made by AP. They definitely win in the humidity and "easy to clean" department. All the "big" gecko breeders I talked to thought I was crazy, but a lot of those same guys have gone, or are going to racks now. Being a snake guy originally, I thought they were all crazy for using those damn screen cages (I'm talking all screen, no plastic).

How often do you mist them in the rack system?

Thanks Anthony for the feedback!

Thanks, Anthony. I would definitely be going with racks if I had as many arboreal geckos as I did snakes, but I've only got a handful. Just looking to replace those last four aquariums!

i use Anthony Caponetto's rack system...the best thing out their for rhac breeders. i dont know how many you have but if you just need a smaller one cage, might look at this

$40 acrylic cage....its worth it.

found a post about them if you wanta read...

But AC's 66qt system rack is the best way to go... AP jacked up the price from last year tho'

I'm really happy with the cage. I appreciate everyone's feedback. I didn't end up putting any cresteds in it...thought this guy could use the upgrade first...

That's gonna be an awesome cage for that white lined! Toss some cork in there to hide and climb, mabey another taller plant, some cypress, ohhh, flip that hide onto it's back so the hole is at the top, fill it with soil and stick a philodendron in there! Oops, sorry, I get overly excited about shiny new cages!

When my cresteds were in plastic tubs like that they used to smell really bad even right after I would clean. I guess because there was hardly any air flow. The paper towels I used as substrate would also take a couple days to dry out (and smell even worse if they had dead crickets, CGD and feces on them), even if the misting was light. I was terrified of growing some kind of fungus or the stale air being bad for the geckos.

But hey, if it works for you then good. =] Just my two cents. I'd personally much rather use something like that pvc cage. If they're anything like the Exo-Terra cages, then they should work great.

That's what I thought too but when I saw that pic of Anthony's boxes they didn't have any more holes than mine did and his don't even get top ventilation.

Okay... if you give a crested gecko a humid hide box like a leopard gecko, do you have to mist them if they have water dishes? Anthony has eggcrate in there. I didn't think you could mist that stuff or it wilts.

ok, i have been useing them for over a year now...no problems like that after i put more holes in it... do you have this rack system???, The rack system has a gap at the top, lidless. Anthony's pic has holes at the top, im the middle and in some it looks like their rows of holes in some. Another thing is the egg creates do very well...i soak them down heavy and do great, never fall apart. I keep my geckos about 73-75 degrees and when i mist/soak them down, by the time i leave for work in the AM(8ish) their dry.
