Do any of you guys use temperature alarms in your snake room/buildings? I have all of my snakes out in a building 70-80ft away from my house, and I'm always worried about something going wrong and me not knowing about it for several hours, especially at night when I'm asleep.

So I was wondering if anyone could recommend one to me or share experiences. After some quick Google searching I found this one: http://www.homesecuritystore.com/ezstore123/DTProductZoom.asp?productID=1517, but I have no idea about the quality of the product or the website. Most of them I saw would only alert you if the temps got below 45 or 40, I obviously would need one that I could set to go off at a higher temperature.

I appreciate any help.

I don't know, but keep us posted on what you find out.

Found them for sell at Reptile Basics, too: http://www.reptilebasics.com/Temperature-Alarm-p-1-c-295.html I would buy from them, but I don't have a phone jack in my building, so I'll need one that sends the signal out to the dialer that'll be in my house. At least I don't think the RBI one does that, quite possibly could be reading the description wrong.

I'm going to look around for different ones this weekend and will likely order what I choose on Monday. Will be great once I get set up, I've been waking up every few hours to go check on things for the last few days since it has been so cold, it was in the mid teens last night.

I ended up ordering the one that I linked to in the original post (this one (http://www.homesecuritystore.com/ezstore123/DTProductZoom.asp?productID=1517)). Got it this past Thursday and set up everything today, it works great! I was afraid it was going to be too far of a distance between the temp sensor and the dialer but it isn't. So when the temps go above or below the set temps it calls my cell phone (you can program up to nine numbers) and I hear a message that I recorded. Dials me three times, you can set it to call as many as 9 times. Has a backup battery so it will work when the powers out. Overall I'm very pleased, but it is the first day I've used it so we'll see if my pleasure lasts.

If you guys want the real monitoring equipment, look to the nursery/greenhouse industry. It is possible to set up a unit that tracks temperatures (and humidity if you wish) of room, racks, incubators or whatever in dozens of thermostated systems simultaneously, as well as notification by a phone call if you wish, but it isn't cheap.

If you're worried only about the temperature of one room during sleep and budget restricts, wire a Ranco to an alarm in your home via low voltage wires and a relay circuit.
