View Full Version : need a digital scale
StudentoftheReptile 11-23-2008, 04:09 PM What does everyone recommend?
I need a small digital scale for weighing my animals....something that goes up to 1000 grams or so.
Sputnik 11-23-2008, 04:23 PM I use one of those white ones you can get at Walmart, I think they are called "good cook".... goes up to 2500g I think. I need one of those postal ones too that go higher.
FloridaHogs 11-23-2008, 04:24 PM I use a small postal scale that I got at Sams. It weighs over 1000g, but not 3000g. Works for all but one of my animals.
JOHNS6068 11-23-2008, 04:37 PM I got one from reptile basic's it goes up to 7000 grams or 15lbs. I love it as it stays on longer as so when I'm weighing everyone I don't have to constantly turn the thing back on and has multiple weight options as well.

Larry 11-23-2008, 04:44 PM Yea I bought one of those cheap Target jobs for like 19.99 works fine but I would like to know what my big girls are tipping the scales at.

Got the same scale from Reptile Basics. Top notch.
jknudson 11-23-2008, 05:03 PM The 7001dx is an awesome little scale. I've had the same batteries in mine for two years, and they're still cookin! It has its own power saving feature, which turns it off if not being used for a period of time.

I use this model too and I finally had to change the batteries last week after 2 1/2 years! I use mine a lot because I weigh prey items.... (I know, I know.... I am a little obsessive compulsive OK!)

I too use mine a TON... I keep track of weights on my younger snakes, and also weigh prey items so I can track actual growth, to see what they're putting on opposed to just passing through. Nothing wrong with being OCD
constrictorkeeper 11-23-2008, 08:09 PM you'll definitely be happy you got more capacity one day...
my 2000 grammer just don't cut it anymore. i'm a freak for knowin' what i got.
at some point i won't be able to live with "over 2000 g's" as a description of my big girls. i know some are closer to 3k than 2k, but...
for the price difference, it's worth it to go bigger.
i already had my scale when i got into balls, so i've stuck with it 'till now.
