What do you use for an incubator? I use a Natures Spirit I really love and one I made out of a giant fish shipping cooler. I plan on making a big one for the coming season out of expanded pvc.

I use a little mini fridge I converted over, works really really well but would like to make a bigger one but I think I need to wait to make sure I will need it first.

I too use a mini fridge converted into a bator... I use 2-2ft 3" wide pieces of flexwatt to heat it all controlled by a herpstat. It worked just fine for me this year...but I'll likely come up with something else this season.

With the small amount of clutches I have had the last few years, I have been using Hovabators and they have worked great. At one time I converted an old soda fridge I scored from a convenience store that went out of business and it worked awesome! It could hold 40 - 50 clutches of colubrid eggs. I sold it when I got orders for Hawaii along with the entire collection and all equipment. I hated seeing that thing go as I knew I would never be able to find another that cheap.... FREE!!!!!!!!

Here is mine. Its an old Coke machine. I got lucky to get this cause these machines are supposed to be destroyed when they die so people dont use the Coke parts. Guess they dont want people using there name for free even though it seems a bit much to me. Anyway it works really well, and was cheap. I love it. I will need another next season though. How much are the NS?

I use about a 5'x7' room with a space heater and a couple fans. Its nice being able to stay in there as long as I want when something cool is hatching out. I just moved into a new building so this is the first year that I will be able to use this room, but it should work out nicely. Only time will tell.

When you fill up the "extra" space with water bottles it allows you to open the door more without the temp cooling off as fast. Water cools slower than air. Keeps it more stable.

This is a question for those of you who have clear or glass doors, how often do you open it up to get a closer look?

I can't see in mine so my head is in there a few times a day but I don't know if that would change if I could see in it.

I dont open them all that often. Only if I need to wipe the condensation off the lids of the egg boxes towards the end or to double check the temp with another temp gun or to do anything with the eggs if need be which is rare. That is why I use the water bottles though, so if I do open them the temp cools more slowly and I dont lose a ton of heat.

We have a cooler just like that thats waiting to be converted. I snagged it from a Movie Theater and its missing the shelves but nothing I can't work around.

This is what I've used in the past with pretty decent results.
Simple 20watt heat pad , few pieces of 3/4" styro sheeting and some tape.

Going to rework the lid with 1/2" foil backed foam board to help with the insulation factor.http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q34/BryonsBoas/Egg%20Cookers/eggcookers004.jpg

For a grand total of about $15 - 20, I've hatched Beardie eggs , Racer eggs , Skink eggs and Leo eggs out of it and hopefully a clutch of BP eggs this season.
