So, that talk of petri dishes got me to thinking about some of the money saving things I do when it comes to my animals. Such things as the disposable gladware for humid hides and lay boxes to toliet paper tubes for hides. Another thing I use for hides are the black plastic containers ground beef and other meats come in. They come in a variety of sizes and they are dishwasher safe. I also bring home the dishes they use for coleslaw at Chic-fi-la (they also go through the dishwasher)

For hides I use plastic plant bottoms and cut a hole in the top. For water bowls, I go to either Salvation Army or Goodwill. They always have a ton of glass bowls for less than a buck each. In fact, there is usually a ton of stuff in either of these stores. I find aquariums, bowls, wood boxes to make hides, and old towels for cleaning up.... Great place to shop for a Bush Leaguer!!!!!!

I use the Glad tubs for some of my hides.

I use scrap plywood or paneling left over from job sites to build my precious Retes Stacks (All Hail).

Ive used cereal boxes for hides when I had snakes! Those were good hides! Nice and snug. Looked a silly seeing a corn snake sitting on top of Tony the Tiger.

Thanks for sharing these ideas =) I have never given it much thought as what things around the house I could use for hides. You've got me thinking now :yessir:
