I eventually want to breed my boas, but that won't be for a year at least.. But in the mean time, i can do research. The only problem I seem to be running into is that all the literature im finding is in regards to the big boas, the Surinames and such.

Is there any good dwarf boa breeding lit out there for a bibliophile like myself? Books, online sheets, stories, posts. With ball pythons that stuff is everywhere. I was trying to find the boaphile's page but its no longer available.

I'm also looking for care after females give birth. I've found almost none of that. General neo-nate set ups, etc.

Two more questions. I've heard Nicaraguans and central americans interchanged as far as species labels go, is this accurate?

And is there a form of albinism that is found in CAs? or do you have to use a khal or shap strain albino to make albinos in the CAs?

Thanks guys. I thought i'd start with getting answers for the stupid questions first and then go from there.

Vin Russo has a good book out, as far as breeding Boa constrictors the
"husbandry" is all going to be "about" the same for central and south america..
If you were asking about BC Nebulosa or Orophias that would be different..
Neo care is sometimes different for the little centrals.. Your best bet would be to look at some of the web pages of the bigger breeders..I've got an old 3 ring binder filled with copies of original descriptions and such but it doesn't contain much if any breeding or care info..Goggle cutting edge or rio bravo websites and see if it helps..:rebel:

Yeah... Vin's book is a great starting point.... It will give you a snapshot of all of the boa races..... you can also go on reptile insider forum.... Im not trying to just plug another forum... but RI is predominantly a boa breeder forum... like this one is more of a ball python forum.....

Most of the guys on RI are very forthcoming with information and advice..... so if you have any questionsdont hesitate to ask them over there

But it doesn't help get our boa section going any better if we just send people to other forums. How about we spend more time answering their questions HERE instead of directing them THERE. There are people that breed and have bred boas here.......

I have to say I lost alot of respect for Reptile Radio..... Bush League Breeder's Forum already left a bad taste in my mouth...... good thing we have this forum

The second quote is from a post on reptile insider that he made not even 2 months ago...seems that you would be trying to just plug another forum considering your feelings about this place...why come back at all if you feel this way? I sure as hell don't need you around if this is the type of shit games you play...

I agree. Since your forum is all that and a bag of chips, why clutter up the BLBC with your bs? Seems to me you came here to make a shameless plug.... and I dont like it.

Some of the central babies that want to be a PITA and not eat in shoeboxes we set up in small worlds or critter keepers with a branch and hide box so they could strike from above..We found that they often want full prey movement too so rolling around pinks and fuzzys failed to turn them on..Young weaned mice got them going..Toilet paper tubes squashed and stapled made just the right size hides and they're easily generated by the family..Been out of boas for many years but I do believe there is a T+ albino that is from central animals..You should be able to go to a decent size library and gather OLD info but much of it will be null and void today..Good reading though..

PS, I enjoy it here..:rebel: Cuz I like bush and breed animals..:lmao:

Whats funny is... the forum is called reptile insider... isnt that the name of the online magazine also? the same magazine that puts these so called genetic problem animals they are pouting about on the the front cover to advertise new animals and there magazine?? they speak of the genetic problems in BP's... what about the same problems that have oocured in carpet pythons, gtp's, "Boas" that they so love the most? what about the fact that his friends and breeders... are some of the same people thats producing these genetic impaired animals? what about the intergraded morph retics you used to own Kai? how do you think those were produced? you contridict yourself a lot dont you Kai?

I listened to the most recent blast from reptile radio this morning... Basically it was a talk about the different genetic problems associated with morphs... really I was quite disgusted that there are so many known issues with certain morphs having horrible genetic problems in ball pythons, yet people still produce them anyway.... and this talk was so nonchalant.... like it was no big deal that people continue to breed genetically unsound bloodlines......... This comes back to our discussion earlier regarding inbreeding ..... THis isn't to say that there aren't morph breeders out there that do this properly..... but there are so many breeders out there that will produce something different at all costs..... To be OK with producing a bunch of genetically messed up snakes that have severe neurologiacal and metabolic issues just to produce a couple high priced NEW morphs.....

THis is an industry failure.... to foster a mentality that takes reptile health out of the equation..... People wonder why some people are so passionate about encouraging genetic diversity.... well this is why.....

same link as Jeff...:nono:

So RR and therefore the BLBC foster a mentality that takes reptile health out of the equation ?

Maybe I read that wrong.....If not PISS OFF....
