I'll post more when there all out of there eggs.
xanaxez 04-11-2010, 03:11 PM Congrats on the new hatchlings
FRoberts 04-11-2010, 03:24 PM congrats...you got supers and not tigers .....There should not be any supers....I'd keep a pair of those....you probably are to get granite back supers....is the GB simple recessive ?
I'd do the breeding again....plus there's more then one...something "special" about mom :yessir:
ChadS 04-11-2010, 04:13 PM Correct matter of fact 90 percent of them are supers.
Congrats on the new hatchlings. Super cool.
FRoberts 04-11-2010, 04:44 PM Correct matter of fact 90 percent of them are supers.
that's not normal bro....cool bad ass snakes....something's going on with mom's genotype for sure....I'd try to duplicate those results....and see if the offspring do the same thing....can't keep em all...but I'd keep as many as I logically could....Super Duper Tigers....:yessir:
I'd think you may have to bred two of them together to get mom's possible gene....that many is no fluke....something up IMHO.....
Is there any tigers ?
ChadS 04-11-2010, 05:13 PM One maybe two tigers in the whole bunch. The rest all supers.
FRoberts 04-11-2010, 05:32 PM One maybe two tigers in the whole bunch. The rest all supers.
Well I'm stumped..ever hear anyone else doing this ?
ChadS 04-11-2010, 06:23 PM I haven't....and I only have two males in my collection. My male gback and my male sula.
FRoberts 04-11-2010, 06:26 PM I haven't....and I only have two males in my collection. My male gback and my male sula.
maybe the gene mutated :dunno:
JOHNS6068 04-11-2010, 06:36 PM Congrats
Jaymz 04-12-2010, 12:41 AM Well well and you thought you had another year before you would see supers, right? Congrats on the new projects and truck load of super tigers.
Tim Mead 04-12-2010, 11:52 AM Thats what cha call a very pleasant puzzle..:rebel:
jjollie 04-12-2010, 10:40 PM congrats; on your new clutch..
pandp 04-13-2010, 09:21 PM Big congrats on beating the genetic odds...Did you buy your lottery ticket????

He did more then beat the odds..what happened is NOT supposed to....
Larry 04-13-2010, 09:25 PM Awesome brother congrats. I'll be checking this thread often for the updates...
ChadS 04-13-2010, 10:12 PM Thanks everyone....No, no lottery ticket...lol
Here is a pic of the male that was used.

Well he should not have effected the outcome...but who knows...I say it's mom....
Select Serpents 04-14-2010, 05:42 PM Any chance there was sperm retention from previous breedings? That's awesome, never know what you're going to get. Congrats.

Good point never thought of that...just assumed he raised them from babies.....
ChadS 04-14-2010, 07:03 PM I did raise her up. She was 3 1/2 yrs of age when she bred. She's a 06. She was never with any other male than my gback.

That is what I figured but I still should have at least have thought of that. (sperm storage).....:o

That's totally understandable....
Heres a pic of one of only two tigers to come out of the clutch. He or she has a extreme granite stripe and a alot of black with broken pattern. Definitely a keeper.

How do the genetics of the granite work ?
obviously we do not know anymore!lol
Select Serpents 04-15-2010, 11:39 AM That's completely awesome. I didn't know if this was her first breeding or not. Should be interesting trying to figure this out out.
I would think that if the Gback had any tiger, it would be readily apparent. I know some morphs are dominant and can suppress other mutations but I would still think you would be able to see if the graniteback had any tiger. So, I'm stumped. I think it's the male though.

People have been breeding gb males for years to all the morphs, no such thing is attributed to the gb morph that I have heard of...I'd breed her to the sulawesi male next time to see if it repeats itself....sulawesi's will improve the color of the tigers!!!
Select Serpents 04-15-2010, 12:01 PM I'm not that familiar with retic morphs for sure, but I assume the same is true for tigers and no one has produced the super form with only genetics from only one parent. Unless there is a genetic condition where the female can pass both allels (consistently), I'd take that male to another tiger and see what pops out.
ChadS 04-15-2010, 08:25 PM Now that there all out of the egg and I take a closer look, all of them are supertigers. The one posted and many others have that same granite to them so I would have to bet I do have supertiger gbacks.

Ok explain how the gb gene is transfered....simple recessive ? part of Anthrax right...don't know the scoop on the gene...like the other poster said maybe he had something to do with it...now I'm realy confused ...lol

That makes two of us :lmao: Any light hat you could shed on this would be great.
