Varanus99 11-26-2008, 06:01 PM I do not keep GTPs myself but if you go to Gregs site and look under husbandry you will find some neat stuff. Even cage plans: http://www.finegtps.com/ And I thought this was a pretty cool video featuring some GTPs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZAy1I1V2NI Hope thats helpful. Sputnik 11-26-2008, 06:02 PM I'll endorse hitting www.finegtps.com also! JChandler 11-26-2008, 08:12 PM I will try to get some pics of what I had/have set up here. Mind you I have one GTP and it is only 6 months old but I did have the hatchling container set up with some plastic coat hangers that worked great. Tosha 11-27-2008, 11:57 AM When Verde first came home we put him in a tub -- we found one at Target that was a little more tall but not too big overall -- I would guess 12ish qts. We used plastic hangers for perches and added a plastic plant and papertowel substrate and a water bowl. For heat we used a small UTH on the top of the tub. Once we knew he was settled in and feeding well (perhaps 2 months after we got him) we moved him into a 12"x12"x16" Barrs cage (herpcages.com) where he lived for the next year and a half or so until we moved him into his 2' cube. I can't find a picture of the tub set up but this is the Barrs cage: http://jetpythons.com/DCP_5793.JPG And his cube I think is pictured in my GTP thread here? anendeloflorien 11-27-2008, 01:07 PM Nice setup Tosha! So it seems to me like RHPs are the way most people go for a heat source in an aboreal cage. What do the Bush Leaguers use? I'm putting some thought into an ATB or a chondro someday and I want to learn as much as possible about them. maraten12 11-27-2008, 05:27 PM thanks everyone ill have to work out the sizes because we normally have boxes or tubs in litres not qts in england. but it shouldn,t be to hard thanks for taking the time to reply to my question JChandler 11-28-2008, 07:01 PM This is how the little guy was set up in the hatchling rack...shoe box container. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l37/ChandlerReptiles/Equipment/GTPHatchlingContainer.jpg He is in something similar to what Tosha posted above. earthpig23 11-28-2008, 07:56 PM This is how the little guy was set up in the hatchling rack...shoe box container. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l37/ChandlerReptiles/Equipment/GTPHatchlingContainer.jpg He is in something similar to what Tosha posted above. love the ****ing perfect use of hangers...bush league at its best JChandler 11-28-2008, 09:05 PM Easy to clean and available at your local closet... maraten12 11-29-2008, 07:30 PM thanks guys. thats given me some ideas now.:master: i have ordered greg maxwells book so once im confident enough ill be picking up a chondro. i cant wait im like a kid at christmas :wamma: Larry 11-29-2008, 07:33 PM Hell yea love the hanger idea Jeff. I'd love to get a couple GTP's after doing the show with Greg boy I was sold. In do time.... JChandler 11-29-2008, 09:58 PM Really I can't take any credit for the hanger idea, Damon had it set up that way I just copied it here...works like a champ. I know they are one that I will be adding as soon as I find the room, awesome species to have around. Not much during the day but at night, watching it hunt is the coolest thing. Rapture 11-30-2008, 01:11 PM Here's my baby not long after I got it in its shoebox tub. http://www.lunarboids.com/galleries/chondros/three/hangerarrangement.jpg It's getting a good deal bigger now and I have to decide whether to use a larger tub or switch to a cage. Hmmmm... JChandler 11-30-2008, 02:12 PM The only reason I reversed my hangers was so he could get to the cool side to on my set up....my hatchling rack is heated from the bottom, but good to see I am not the only crazy one with hangers...lol WinstonHS 11-30-2008, 03:41 PM Wow, that hanger idea is great! |
